Description
The Abita Brewing Company is nestled in the piney woods 30 miles north of New Orleans. In its first year, the brewery produced 1,500 barrels of beer. We had no idea what we started. Customers loved our beer! By 1994, we outgrew the original site (now our 100-seat brew pub) and moved up the road to a larger facility to keep up with demand.
We brew more than 125,000 barrels of beer and 13,500 barrels of soda of in our state-of-the-art brewing facility. Our lagers and ales are brewed in small batches, hand-crafted by a team of dedicated workers with only the highest ideals of quality. This pride, along with our brewing process, is what creates our great brews.
We are privately owned and operated by local shareholders, many who have been with us since day one.

On tap at Christian Firtal Pale Ale Festival. Golden with a lasting white head. Malty aroma with toffee and biscuit and fruity notes of orange peel and red apples. Sweetish malty and fruity flavour with herbal notes and a quite bitter finish.

$2.25 bottle, Beer Run. Pours ugly murky golden-brown with a yellowish head. Aroma is pina colada: coconut, pineapple... some citrus, resin. Smells very artificial. Flavor is artificial coconut, pineapple... light orange, vanilla... it's not a horrid flavor, but it's unnatural.

Draught @ Fox & Hounds, Sønderborg. Pours slightly hazy straw with airy white head. Clear aroma of hops and citrus, with some estery and fruity touches. Bitter flavour of hops and grass, with notes of yeast and mild touches of malt. Bitter and estery aftertaste. Bot bad but a little watery, despite a reasonable level of carbonation

$2.00 bottle, Beer Run. Hazy golden pour, off-white head. Aroma is bergamot, lemon, Lipton Iced Tea Mix... all smells good, except I hate Earl Gray, so odd that I'm digging this aroma. Flavor is citronella candle... good god, wax and all. Bergamot oil, wax, lemon (artificial), dirt. Yuck. That aroma is really nice though.

Keg at Stubby's Gastropub, 5/1/19. . Clear pale gold, thin creamy white head, good retention. Aroma of toasted grain, nuts, pale malt.Taste is grain and green hops. Thin. Better than expected. This has been brewed at Milwaukee Brewing previously, but the beer menu clearly indicated Abita. Thanks for the Louisiana tick I guess?
