Description
Renaissance brewing was established in 2005 when experienced brewers Andy Deuchars and Brian Thiel purchased the lease on the historic Grove Mill in Blenheim. Andy and Brian, both natives of Southern California, had one goal in mind - to produce stunning beers in a region more renowned for the excellence of its wines. We are committed to using local ingredients and are one of the pioneers of craft brewing in New Zealand.

Keg at BD CJ. It pours deep mahogany brown with a tiny tan rim. The nose is malt-driven, brown bread, very woody, earth, toasted grain, dried leaves, dirt, light vanilla and dried fruits. The taste is actually quite light, yet rather oaky, spicy action, alcohol warmth, dry wood, charred stuff, light vanilla, leather, dark fruits in the background, light cherry. Lingering finish of oak and leather. Medium body and fine, soft carbonation. Surprisingly one-dimensional. There are elements of this I like, but they don’t present themselves in a particularly cohesive manner.
