Description
Renaissance brewing was established in 2005 when experienced brewers Andy Deuchars and Brian Thiel purchased the lease on the historic Grove Mill in Blenheim. Andy and Brian, both natives of Southern California, had one goal in mind - to produce stunning beers in a region more renowned for the excellence of its wines. We are committed to using local ingredients and are one of the pioneers of craft brewing in New Zealand.

(Bottle) Cloudy amber with huge white head. Pleasant refreshing aroma, mainly citrus with hints of toffee and spice. Light to medium body with medium carbonation. Taste is hops all the way, but in a very good way. They overlay a refreshing gentle citrus tang. Plenty of hoppy bitterness in a very long lasting finish. Nice hoppy IPA, rather unusual.

Bottle at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a slightly cloudy dark brown with a whispy thin broken white head. The aroma is rich red berry fruit, treacle, toffee, caramel. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet with a rich fruity yeast hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Not a style that inspires me, but this is one of the best I’ve had.

Bottle at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a hazy medium amber with a whispy thin white head. The aroma is rich citrus fruit hop. The flavour is medium to strong bitter with a big spice woody hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Many imperial IPA’s are way too alcoholic which destroys the glorious hop bitterness of the beer. The hops come shining through though with the MPA and the alcohol takes a back seat which is the way it should be.
