Cask @ GBBF 09, Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, England. [ As Carlow OHaras Druid Stout ].Clear dark brown color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, coffee. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20090804]

A golden ale with a thick receeding white head. A nice light citrusy hop aroma with light honey notes, a bit of oxidation. In mouth, a light bodied ale with honey malt, light herbal hops, definite oxidation. BB 28/07/09. Bottle from Piscator, shared with probstk, Sept. 1 2009. Thanks Kris.

Pours black into an English pint. Mocha head recedes to form islands and hug rim. Roasted dark caramel aromas. Astringent mocha upfront turning to thin nuts and bitter chocolate in the lasting finish.

Very dark brown with a small off-white head. Fruity aroma with roasted notes of licorice and charcoal. Dry and thin fruity and roasted flavour. Somewhat watery and boring

50cl bottle from an offie in Dalkey, Dublin. Clear straw with a thin off-white head; grainy and fruity aroma, citrus with some apricot and pineapple notes; rather oily in the mouth, with dry bready grains and some limey citrus, but rather disappointingly thin; clean citric and tartaric acid finish. OK but lacking character.

Cask at GBBF 2009 ... deep black ... lots of chocolate malt roast nose ... soft roast little chocolate ... light charcoal .... simple but pleasent

(Cask at GBBF, London Earl’s Court, 6 Aug 2009) Dark brown colour, almost black. Brief, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with chocolate, dark bread and coffee. Malty, roasted taste with notes of chocolate, coffee, dark bread and some dark fruit. Balanced coffee bitterness in the finish. Medium body with some fruity sweetness. Nice and tasty stout.

Solid coffee bitterness in a dry finish. Medium body, smooth mouthfeel. Possibly a touch drier and hoppier than their O’Haras Celtic Stout. Nice and well balanced stout.

Bottle at home ... no idea where i got this ... but it cost me £2:30 ... deep black ... thin tan head ... sweet meaty big malt nose ... this alone puts it above its average so far ... bit overy fizzy ... nice meaty roast malt ... but thin ... oddly this remonds me a little of the Kaggen in its flavour ... but its thinness lets it down badly ...theres also a tiny tinge of sourness... This is probably the beer that holds the most promice of what it could have been. It probably needs taken up a point or two and some more boddy added and this could go from 3.4 ->4.4 with one little step

(Draught at In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 1 Aug 2009) Pale golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, grassy nose with notes of citrus and mild hints of spices. Fruity taste with grass, citrus and some spices. Light body, balanced sweetness. Grassy, spicy hop character. Refreshing and tasty.
