Brouwerij Palm
Commercial Brewery
in Steenhuffel,
Flemish Brabant,
Belgium 🇧🇪
Owned by
Bavaria Brouwerij (Swinkels Family Brewers)
Associated Venue: Palm Brewery
Established in 1706
Arthur kick-started the brewery’s industrial development in order to sell his beers far beyond the borders of the municipality. He also created his own “Spéciale Belge” brew. In 1929, Arthur Van Roy gave his “Spéciale Belge” the brand name “Spéciale PALM”. The brewery continued to grow before and after the second World War.
In 2014 Palm Breweries is renamed Palm Belgian Craft Brewers. A new micro-brewery is opened in order to experiment with new combinations of herbs, spices, hops, fruit and wood, and is named in honour of De Hoorn. At 10 hl, the capacity of the micro-brewery is almost exactly the same as that of the village brewery of days gone by.
On 9 May 2016, the Dutch brewery Bavaria N.V. (Swinkels Family Brewers) bought a majority stake in the company. Bavaria initially bought 60% of the shares and will expand this to 100% in 2021.

33cl Fles bij VUE Alkmaar. Wat een bogt zeg.. Helder goudgele kleur. Geur van passievrucht, smaak is passievrucht met een hoploze zoete lager a la Corona. Redelijk hoog in koolzuur. Werd steeds beroerder naarmate het bier wat opwarmde. Brrr..
Dune 2!!

29/III/24 - 33cl can from Albert Heijn supermarket (Gent), shared @ home, BB: 27/II/25, T09 13:18 (2024-189)
Clear orange blond beer, creamy dense off-white head, unstable, dissipates quickly, a bit adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: ripe banana, yeasty, smoky, sweet impression, orange peel, weird. MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet malts, caramel, ripe banana, a little bitter, dry, sweet touch. Aftertaste: oranges, malty, bitter orange peel, sweet touch, caramel, not an IPA by far! Sjeez, big brewing in Belgium failing once more to make a decent IPA. Is it really that hard to brew even just a half decent IPA?

Can @ Telfords. Clear golden body under a big, creamy white head. Aroma has mild malt, generic fruit and Belgium yeast with esters. Taste is sweet, smooth malt, fruity, Belgium yest and low bitterness. Medium, but balanced body with nice aftertaste. A nice classic, no nonsense Belgium blond. Very quaffable indeed.

Clear blond colour, white foam. Light sweet, malty, metallic notes, some cardboard. Not the best NA lager.

Can @ home. Cloudy golden body under a nice, big, foamy white head. Aroma has wheat, coriander, clove and ripe banana. Taste is sweet wheat, coriander, clove, banana and hint of honey. Balanced body and same aftertaste. Low bitterness. A straight forward, spot on true to style Belgian wit beer. You either like it or you don't. At least there is not many newcomers in this style anymore, maybe the haze generation would be a bit confused over this?
