Description
In the beginning, in 2004, the Lupulus brewery was built to brew beers for the tavern next door. In 2007, the brewery decided to create a new beer, in kegs and in Champagne bottles. The brewers wanted to offer a traditional beer with its own unique flavour, using modern equipment. The region where the brewery is based gave the brewers the inspiration they were looking for. The brewery is housed in a magnificent old 19th century farm, a part of Ardennes heritage. The installation is based in the middle of surrounding green fields, beside a freshwater stream. The historical record is sketchy, but we know that wolves populated the Ardennes landscape in olden times. Some say that these wolf-packs came from Slovenia, where the best hops in the world are cultivated... True story? In any case, the wolf was behind the creation of a new beer: Lupulus. The name derives from the Latin name of the hop plant Humulus Lupulus, which means Small Humble Wolf.

from a 33 cl can. I love these. Seems like a test run for now, I hope they'l commit to doing this in big numbers. The NEIPA was amazing, and this is the second in the 'series' ( 3 beers in small running of cans) I try. Pours a slightly hazed blonde, comparable to the lupulus blond we all know, and mostly all of us love. Medium big to big white head. Scent is mild, more hoppy than usual Lupulus, but less complex, spicy. Taste is medium bitter, some surprising amount of pine. A complex green/yellow fruit note ( NZ style) , coconut indeed, as well as stonefruit. Medium full body, medium carbo. Nice, but I prefer the (more complex to me) regular lupulus blonde.

6/V/21 - 33cl can from Geers (Oostakker), shared @ home, BB: 12/IV/22, canned: 12/IV/21 (barely readable black ink on a black label) (2021-359)

Clear (WTF? The Hoppy Wheat was cloudier!) pale blond beer, big irregular fluffy white head, stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: nice, quite some tropical fruits, mango, pineapple, floral, hint of diacetyl, some caramel malts, little dank. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: rather sweet start, caramel, malts, pretty fruity, tropical fruits, nice bitterness, some citrus. Aftertaste: pretty dank, a bit cheesy, tropical fruits, slightly oxidized, honey, nice bitterness, very decent beer, this one! This is very promising.
