Bottle at a tasting. Thanks eyes_wide_shut. Clear golden with no real head. Aroma of cereals, sugar, alcohol, honey and carob notes. A rather sweet flavor of weird cereals and honey. Light-bodied. Strange and unpleasant.

Bottle from Big Star in Seattle. Pours brassy gold with a big foamy white head. Aroma is warm, sweet, corny. Flavor is sweet and lightly corny. It’s not bad compared to Bud, but it’s sweetish and a little bready. Wash down food - yes. Drink for enjoyment - eh!

12oz bottle. Pale orange-yellow, slightly hazy. Thin, soapy head..steady. Mellow non-aroma, some mild malt tones. A little big sugary, maybe a touch of candy orange, but still a nice Pale Lager. Some balancing noble hops are smothered in a sweet, golden malt richness. A little bit of a dirty finish, but otherwise quite nice. An odd lemon-lime aftertaste too. I like Harar better, but similar in quality.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Awash Restaurant (East Village), 2/12/10

Overall Impression: My first Ethiopian beer rating, coincidentally (or not so much) from dinner at an Ethiopian restaurant. I like their food a lot better then their beer, but this stuff wasn't terrible. Kind of a sweet, and a bit fruity, example of a lager. A little different from your typical adjunct lager, but not great or bad. Too sweet for my tastes.

(Bottle 33 cl) Pours a clear, deep golden with a tall, dense and fairly stable head. Discreet, malty aroma with a touch of metal. Medium-bodied with extremely and stickingly sweet malts. No bitterness. Sticky and out of balance. Tasted at The Axum Cafe in San Francisco. 210307
