Description
Troy Casey began Casey Brewing and Blending in the fall of 2013 with the idea of creating a blendery (a facility that doesn’t have a brewery themselves, but still makes beer) in the Roaring Fork Valley, a place where he and his fiancé had recently decided to make their home. After searching for the perfect location for their barrel cellar, they found their current spot in South Glenwood right on the Roaring Fork River. Troy first began brewing sour and wild beer in 2009 and it quickly took over all of his brewing interest. This all culminated with the creation of Casey Brewing and Blending, a place where Troy will be able to create blends his way.

11/24/23 bottle. Pours a hazy gold with small white head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is funk, pear, apple, wood. Slick body, lemon, pear, funk, oak, nice acidity, enjoyed this.

Pale yellow colour with light haze and quick fading head. Aroma and flavour have some funk and quite harsh vinegary acidity. Finish is somewhat milder. More citrus and vinous acidity. Woodiness of old white wine barrels. Perhaps too harsh in the acidity.

Pint Can. Pours a mostly clear golden color with a medium sized sudsy white head that has fair retention. The aroma is medium in strength with citrus, light pine, and herbs. The taste is dominated by citrus with fresh oranges, grapefruit and a bit of mango. Rounding out the back and sides are pine resins, grass, and herbs. The palate is full and even with lively carbonation. Finishes long, dry and crisp with a bit of lingering bitter pine resins. Overall: Decent IPA. Not so sure I'd call this a west coast IPA, but its still quite yummy. IMHO a west coast IPA needs a big pine presence in the forefront, not in the background. But this is a minor quibble. Paired really well with some sourdough pretzels. I really hope my local will continue to carry this brewery.

pint can. Pours a clear brown color with a small off white head that soon recedes. The aroma is sweetened grains, breads and a bit of caramel. The taste, like the aroma, is sweetened grains breads and caramel. There is also a noticeable hallretau hop presence that works rather well here. The palate is full and even with crisp carbonation. Finishes a bit short and semi-sweet. Overall: Decent Dunkel-nothing exciting, no big bold flavors, and no real defects. Paired very well with some pretzels
