Elegant bottle. Pours with a clear yellow hued body and a white head. Aromas are of DMS, plastic, sulfur, doughy bread, soap and medium esters. Flavors are strongly of DMS, slightly oily, low esters, strong vegital and straw like malt. Lively carbonation and medium bodied.

Can. Clear dark brown with a modest beige head that nevev quite disappears. Aroma of toffee, toast, prunes, mild spices, a whiff of smoke. Taste is sweet with dried and stewed fruits, toffee, pepper, burnt toast. No real depth in the malty flavours, which at 7%+ makes me wonder. A bit astringent as well as peppery at the end.

Can. Clear amber with a large off-white head that laces well. Aroma has sourish rye bread, caramel, grass. Never really loved the smell of rye. Smooth, medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Bready with lots of rye, grass, pepper. Some orange and grapefruit that didn’t quite fit for me. Firm bitterness. Distinctive and characterful.

At Devil’s Craft on tap. It has a nice dark red color with a tan head. A peppery aroma and a nice complex flavor malt, pepper & bitterness.

Bottle. Straw colored beer with a whitish head. Fruity (melon) aroma with light yeast. Light yeast and light spice flavor with fruitiness. Medium bodied. Yeast and spice linger with hay and fruit.

A bottle from Craft Beer Base. The fact that this was made with champagne yeast really shines through.It has champagne’s light carbonation and mouthfeel & a sweet fruity flavor like a nice bottle of bubbly. Incredibly easy to drink, the label says it all "A true feast for the senses with it’s rich straw-like appearance and aromatic, fruity nose. This celebratory beer has a crisp, sweet flavor with a strong dry, effervescent finish." Devil’s Canyon really nailed it as I picked up on most of that. A great beer to celebrate a special occasion, also excellent for people who don’t like beer. Kind of a beer-champagne hybrid which will have some people saying "Was that a beer?"

A spicy base from the rye which gives it a nice cloudy amber color. The aroma is hoppy with a slight funk. The flavor is nice, malty, sweet & spicy. A solid beer.

Draft @ SF Beer Week Opening Celebration 2013, Concourse Exhibition Center, San Francisco, CA. Pours a dark brown black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty caramel aroma. Roasted malty caramel and chocolate flavor. Has a roasted malty caramel and chocolate finish.

Aroma is dominated by malt. There is quite a bit of rye with some secondary biscuit and cracker notes. There is some muted woodsy hop notes, but this is definitely not what I think of when I think of a California IPA. Pours a murky copper color with hints of amber. A thin slightly white head recedes steadily leaving a thin film on top and along the edges. Flavor starts fairly sweet with some rye spice as well as some light caramel. Some faint cracker notes and moderate biscuit. Mid palate the bitterness an hop flavor hits. The hops are very woody and grassy. The bitterness is fairly strong but clean. The finish is fairly sweet but not quite sticky. The bitterness and hop flavor lingers a bit in the finish along with some rye spice and a touch of alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium to medium full bodied with medium low carbonation. Low but present hop astringency. Low alcohol warmth. Overall this is a very English style IPA with a very English hop profile. The rye is different for the style but woks well with the woody hop character nice but definitely not my favorite IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Capped 750 from City Beer. Pours light gold with a transient white head. Aroma is fruit - suggesting a mix of banana ester and pineapple in a mild way. Med body. Flavor suggests pear! Not a great impression of Belgian yeast/spice. Yet there is an ongoing banana ester thing - but very low key. The whole beer is rather mild in flavor - but it is rather tasty and intriguing. So, a "crisp, sweet [make that fruity] flavor with a strong dry, effervescent finish" - well that’s fairly accurate. Devils Canyon is all over the landscape on beer types, but pretty consistent on doing good beers. IMHO.
