Description
Few concepts are as old as beer and fatherhood. This story starts in 2009 in small town Ontario, with four hockey dads and their four hockey sons. Artist, entrepreneur, corporate exec and maverick, they gathered around a shared love of the hand crafted and authentic, and a vision of producing high quality craft beers that could combine artistry and accessibility.
Add a whole lot of time spent together in rinks and on soccer pitches, experimenting over stove tops, planting hops and touring microbreweries around the world, and slowly, things began to brew. That friendship, like our craft beers, is based on a simple formula: stand up 4 each other, stand up 4 something bigger than yourself and stand up 4 the antiquated notion that quality craft beer matters.

Pretty decent for style. Some roast and a little caramel, but on the dry side. Lacks buttery vibe of many bad dunkels actually in eastern Europe. Dark brown pour with ok head. A little watery. Can from lcbo.

This ipa poured a nice amber colour with a creamy, off white head. Nice lacing. Scents include grass, hay and a little juniper. All hops. First swig was medium bitter with a nice creamy mouthfeel. Flavours of grass and spruce most prominent. Finish is bitter with grass flavour lingering.

Pours a deep copper colour, clean with a mocha-coloured head, good retention and some creamy-foamy lace. Cereal grain malt aromas with hints of hay. After a while, the darker malts come out a little with some dark fruit notes. Flavours are mild with some roasted malts, caramel and stronger hops in the finish. Dry mouthfeel results from this. Burnt tartiness lingers. Goes down smoothly and nicely balanced all around. Nothing too crazy, but some nice charred wood on the tongue.

This dunkel poured a deep dark amber colour with a creamy light brown head and nice lacing. Scents include ripe fruit, coffee and caramel. First swig was nice and smooth with flavours of roasty malts and a little coffee and toast flavour. Finish is very slightly sweet and a little bitter on the tongue. Hard to describe...

Can: Poured a clear bright amber color ale with a nice foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of fresh floral citrusy notes with some light bittern notes also noticeable. Taste is a mix of floral citrusy notes with light bitterness and some light malt notes. Body is full for style with good carbonation. Not bad and pretty good for a new brewery but some clean-up of the malt is required.

Pours a clean amber colour with a big frothy warm-beige cap, very long lasting with thick foamy-creamy lacing. Aromas of fruity-citrus hops with some cereal grains, hints from the farm and light caramel. The taste is also citrusy with some nice dryness in the finish. Good bitterness lingers. Quite a nice Session IPA that is well-crafted. Reminds me of the notes of an Imperial IPA, but with only a 4.8% ABV. Gets hazy near the last pour. What a beautiful head.

Can from the LCBO. Hazy medium copper under a fluffy lingering off white head. Nose is light caramel under a moderate pine and citrus. Flavour follows with light toffee sweetness supporting a medium- bitterness. Mouth is slightly thin as expected with average carbonation and a lightly bitter finish. Decnet enough for a session. 7/4/7-/3/13
