Bottle provided to me by a friend who lives pretty close to the brewery. Poured a dark brown, almost black color with a medium-small off-white head. Aroma was coffee notes with some roasted malt character. Not too thick, perhaps mouthfeel was a bit weak, but still okay. Flavor was like milk chocolate with plenty of bitter, cold coffee notes.

22 oz bottle provided by good buddy at work. Poured a hazy orange-amber color with a medium sized off-white head. Aroma was some pine hops, touch of floral notes, citrus. Flavor had some grain in there, citrus, hops, floral and pine. Pretty good.

Crisp copper coloured body with an amber glow and a thick, four centimetre tall tan head - this is a great looking IPA! Aroma of fresh nutty and earthy hops with a bit of flowers, some malt noticeable and definitely some sweetness. Medium-bodied; Strong nutty and earthy malt flavours dominate with a good floral and grassy hop flavour that isn’t quite as deep and robust as the smell indicated. Aftertaste shows a little sweetness of caramelised sugars, some light nuts and a bit of yeast - all with the faintest of hop flavours. Overall, a nice and maltier and nuttier IPA with some good flavours. Not like a West Coast IPA, but that’s pretty obvious giving a name like Cortland - but well worth trying if you like the style! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Half Time in Poughkeepsie, New York on 26-December-2012 for US$6.99 sampled at home in Washington on 10-March-2013.

Bomber from Half Time. Pours clear copper with a foamy/creamy beige head that didn’t go down very fast. Aroma of nicely roasted caramel with lots of floral and resin. Med body or better. Flavor is sweet light roast malt with lots of hop. The hop is astringent - and mixed. I’m going for resin, floral and citrus. The IBU must be significant, cause it’s putting a bitter bite on my tongue. So it finishes with detectable sweet, but lots and lots of fairly bitter hop. NW? No. Hoppy? Oh yeah!

From the February 2013 3R6P tasting. +++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark brown color with orange highlights and a medium sized foamy orange-tan head that left decent lacing. The aroma was sweetish and tart Pez and mixed fruits. The flavor was sweet cherry, berry and lemon with a light malty presence and touches of tart Pez and chalk. Medium length chalk, lemon, berry and Pez finish. Moderately full bodied. Interesting.

From the February 2013 3R6P tasting. My favorite beer of the night!+++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a brown color with orange highlights and a large foamy orange-tan head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was woody with sweet caramel, honey, bourbon and vague fruity hops. The flavor was bourbon, wood, coconut, pineapple, berries and vanilla. Wonderfully full of flavor and complex. Long wood, vanilla and pineapple finish. Moderately full bodied. Marvelous.

22 oz. bottle, sent from Glouglouburp (thanks Dany), pours a deep dark ruby red with a small beige head. Aroma of bourbon barrels, dark dried fruits, especially dates and prunes, brown sugar, and some slight nail polish scents. Flavour is dominated by prunes, plums and dates / figs; the bourbon barrels are not overly prominent, but there is some noticeable heat from the booze. Quite fruity from the prunes ,with a relatively low complexity considering the style. Still, a nice warming sipper

Location: 22 oz bottle from Half Time, 10/14/12

Aroma: The nose is fairly caramel, with some toasted malts, and light floral hops
Appearance: It pours a dark reddish-orange color with an off-white head and fizzy lace
Flavor: The taste is medium sweet, fairly malty/caramel, with a light hop bitterness in the finish
Palate: The body is medium, it feels a little creamy, it has an average carbonation, and a lightly dry finish
Overall Impression: I'm rater # 11 of this one. As for the beer, it is solid, not great, but not bad. Those looking for a top of "style" (yes, I know, this is a fake style) offering may be disappointed, but those looking for a decent beer surely will not. Solid job here by Cortland.
