On draught at the brewpub, this is the December selection in Elevator’s "PHD" program. The beer is a dark mahogany-amber color with a medium off-white head that diminishes gradually to a dense film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, dark fruit and yeast. Medium body with flavors of caramel malt, raisins and earthy yeast. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

On draught at the brewpub, this is the November selection in Elevator’s "PHD" program, and my 100th Elevator beer. The beer pours a slightly hazy dark brownish-amber color with a medium thin light beige head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. The aroma is oaky with bourbon, malt and fruit notes. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky vanilla, bourbon, roast malt and fruit. The finish is oaky with a bourbon and malt aftertaste. Solid beer all around.

On draught at Hills Market. Brownish-black color with a medium foamy tan head that recedes steadily to a film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, chocolate and coffee. Medium body with a roasty malt and coffee character, with bittersweet chocolate in the background. The finish is roast malt and mild coffee. Decent overall.

12 oz. bottle. Dark, hazy brown color, with a medium, tan head. The nose is caramel, ripe apples, cinnamon, pumpernickel, and cloves. Sweet and malty, with a good hop bitterness in the finish. Medium to heavy body, sticky, syrupy, and a little clingy. This is a nice, solid maerzen. The body is a little too heavy, and the flavor is a little too bitter, but still a nice beer.

From a bottle plenty of rolling co2 makes for a nice show. Big head that hangs. Smell is not bubble gum and its a little off from banana. Taste is perhaps a little aged, 4/42/15 but still comes across quite refreshing after a long day. Finish is not bad. Lots of powdery sediment on the bot’s bottom.

Sample at the North Market Ohio Craft Beer Festival on 09/12/2015. Hazy bright yellow color with a thin white head that evaporates quickly to a film. Spotty lacing. Aroma of citrus, wheat and malt. Light-bodied with a mildly tart orange character and notes of wheat and doughy malt. The finish is fruity with an orange and lemon aftertaste. Decent overall.

On draught at the brewpub, this is the August selection in Elevator’s "MBA" program. The beer is a clear orange color with a medium thin off-white IPA that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Fruity aroma with hops and malt notes. Medium body with a fruity hops character and flavors of sweet malt and caramel in the background. The finish is malty up front with a mildly hoppy aftertaste. Decent overall.
