Bottle from BC Liquor
Amber color, clean. Some aroma of grapefruit, lime, candy, dish product. Caramel flavor, not sticky, yet mildly sweet, with a grainy accent; strong bitterness, not much hop quality, some chicory/pithy bitterness.
Not even trying to be an IPA, just a bitter Amber Ale.

Bottle from Brewery Creek, Vancouver
Cloudy amber color with copper hue; medium sized head. Aroma of malt, caramel and hops; some toasted nuts and biscuits; mild but nice. Lean body; caramel flavor, more dry than sweet; strong bitterness, unfortunately with a harsh final, chicory-like.
A bit hard, not bad though.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Golden color, clean. Some cereal aroma, the mouthfeel is dry, some malt/cereal/caramel flavor, no hop quality, and chicory bitterness in the final.
Uninteresting at best; but the pithy bitterness is really disturbing.

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours a clear copper with a small white head. Aroma brings out crisp biscuity malt and very light hoppiness. Flavour is quite vegetal and off-putting - tons of herbal, vegetal hops dominating. Very off-putting and slightly offensive. Crap.

On tap at Tap & Barrel, pours a cloudy blonde with a small white head. Nose brings out muted peach skins, a little biscuity, not much in general. Flavour is more peachy, with fuzzy peach skins and biscuity notes. Muted and uneventful. Lame.

Draught at Tap Shack Burrard Bridge, Vancouver
Murky blond color with generous head. The malt is a bit crisp, the yeast is spicy, and it has a light citrus touch.
Refreshing Wit, a bit dirty.

On tap. Pours a hazy light copper color with moderate head. Aromas and flavors of muted citrus, wheat, and coriander on an earthy base. Pretty much in style

Amber, with a thin head. Light, caramelly, not much hop on the nose. Or the palate for that matter...this is 70 IBU? It’s an ok amber but a real let down when I was expecting hop.
Earlier Rating: 4/19/2014 Total Score: 3
Hazy amber-brown-mud sort of colour. Reasonably thick head. A bit of pine, marmalade but the hops are mostly unintelligible , muddled by the yeast and probably by their age as well. Bitterness seems nowhere near the 75 on the label. Malts are also a little unclear. Ok, but doesn’t really make a statement of any sort.

Medium brown with a bubbly head. Massive maple syrup, maybe some toastiness. Really thin body, yet still sweet. Cardamom and a whack of maple, maybe vanilla...pretty artificial. Hate to say this, but needs sugars for the body. If you’re going to make a sugar shack beer, stop fucking around. Make it taste like a meal at Pied de Cochon.
