Description
Taft’s Brewing Company was born in 2015 through the renovation and repurposing of St. Paul’s Evangelical Church which had been built in 1850 in the Over-The-Rhine district of downtown Cincinnati. Known as Taft’s Ale House, success led to the opening of a large-capacity brewing facility just north of the city in 2017. The facility became the headquarters for Taft’s Brewing Company and also features a tap room known as Taft’s Brewpourium. Its year-round and seasonal offerings are available at both locations as well as bars, restaurants and your favorite stores throughout southern Ohio and Northern Kentucky. Draft. A- Coconut, almonds, suntan lotion. A- Dark amber color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Coconut, cocoa, subtle peanut, lotion. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- The coconut really makes for an exciting brown ale and exciting+ brown ale usually don't go together. Almost like an almond joy but the cocoa and nuttiness is pretty subdued. Well done and highly drinkable.

Draft. A- Weak, citrus. A- Gold color, clear liquid, white head. T- Sour, lemon juice. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, tart finish. O- Pretty standard sour. Lots of acidic lemon and tartness. Okay. Maybe the most boring beer in a series of surprisingly good beers in my flight.

14 oz Willebecher draft at Taft’s Brewpourium Taproom & Apizza in Cincinnati, Ohio. This was listed as a IPA - Session at 5.0% ABV and 40.0 IBU on their menu board. The pour is a mostly clear golden copper with a solid one inch white head. The aroma is floral, sort of soapy. The taste is perfume floral along with a hint of resin. The palate is light bodied with soft carbonation and a bitter floral finish. Tasty, though not the Rye IPA that is listed here.

Smoked amber. Kinda like the session strength of my 10k beer (smoked barleywine). 12 ounce can from Belmont Party Supply. Clear amber, large foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of smoke, toffee, and a tinny note. The taste is caramel, cherries, toast, mild smoke. Medium bodied, crisp. Solid.
