23/10/2024. After a visit to Mount Fuji 5th Station in pouring rain and cloud, with no sight of Fuji, the next stop was for lunch at Tomijima, Oshino - Shibokusa where I bought this limited edition tourist focused bottles beer. Enjoyed back at our Tokyo hotel, the beer pours clear aqua blue with a small white head. Aroma is fruity, watermelon, bubblegum, pear drop, citrus. Moderate sweetness and bitterness with light tartness. Moderate body, quite lively carbonation. It’s not bad but not very beery and description translates to say beer-like which is closer to beer than we got to seeing Fuji itself.

Keg pour, believe it or not! Dark brown with lace. Big nose of molasses, caramel, chocolate, estery fruits. No spice. Clean, estery body, big malt, probably some candi sugar there too. Very drinkable for 13%. Wow. This tastes like a proper Trappist quad. Excellent. Complex and rich, and will be better with some age.

350ml can. Cloudy, orange, dark golden to amber colour with average to huge, frothy, moderately lasting and lacing, white head. Floral and fruity hoppy aroma, unspecific fruitiness, a touch of plum maybe, wheaty malty background. Taste is sweet-ish, wheaty malty, fruity and minimally floral hoppy, unspecific fruitiness, mild bitterness. Creamy-watery texture, smooth and soft, simultaneously minimally dry palate, medium, mildly prickly carbonation. Fairly exotic, drinkable - quite nice.
