Little cloudy red brown beer, small beige head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: citrus, fruity, lemony, cleaning product, bit sugary, yellow fruits. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: caramel, bit sweet, floral, little bitter, some mocha, bit soapy. Better than the white version.

Bottle from tne brewery. Cloudy red-orange, tall, rocky head. Lots of sansho, caramel, apples, very spicy Belgian yeast. Coriander. Huge coriander. Ridiculously spicy, caramel, apples, chocolate, bitter spice finish. Very sweet too. Better with food, but not as good with it as the blanc. I guess coriander and sansho both, but it is hard to tell. Not bad, but too spicy and sweet, boozy too. Bit of raisin. Too permumey. Rich, sweet malt covers up the food flavors too much. Either this has gotten more spicy, or else my tolerance has faded! Bottle at Watering Hole, 2012: 7/4/7/4/15. Pretty red color, a bit cloudy, lacy head. Nice nose: big sansho, but it works, caramel, cherry, fruity. Soft, fine carbonation and lovely body. Nicely fruity, not too sweet, not too spicy, good bitter finish. Quite lovely really, with good balance and temperate use of the spice. Just a bit astringent in the finish, probably from spices. Great mouth feel.

Bottle. Hazy to cloudy golden, high, rocky head. Nice. Big sansho and citrus nose. Something like lemon grass too. Some wheat malt in the back. Very spicy. Sansho wins. A bit much, but almost balanced. Good with Japanese food: tamago-yaki and eel Full, rich body. Very spicy, and maybe not great alone, but very nice with washoku. Bit perfumy. Alcohol well hidden. Bottle at Cacoi, 2012: 6/4/7/4/14. Big, classic wit nose, clean and nice. Cloudy deep gold with a fine head. Nice, smooth body. Thick but clean. Sweet, strong witbier with lots fo spice and fruit. Too sweet, of course, but nicely done. Not too cloying, with a nice peppery finish. Great head lasts forever. Too heavy on the additives, but well done.
