Description
six°north was established in 2013. The concept was born in Belgium when founder Robert Lindsay fell in love with the country’s beer culture and tradition. He soon returned to north east Scotland to start brewing his own beers, six°north of Brussels. We make modern, artisanal beers that are driven by Belgian brewing tradition and inspired by modern brewing practices.

Our beers are unfiltered and carbonated naturally through secondary fermentation. We brew classic Belgian inspired beers, as well as modern, hop-forward styles. We also release a number of collaboration beers each year with other breweries.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours cloudy deep orangey - amber/brown (not what I was expecting) with a decent white head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, oily, sappy, tangy, ripe Sabro action, green coconut, pineapple, papaya, dubbel bubble, slightly herbal, fennel and marmalade sandwiches. The taste is dry, bitter, toothy, sappy, resin, chewy, brown bread malt base, tropical sabro vibes, coconut cream, tangy pineapple, Pina colada, guava, bubblegum, green, weedy, herbal, spicy, nip of booze, tangerine and orange marmalade with a warming tangy tropical finish. Fulsome body and moderate carbonation. Big, punchy and chewy. Has a fair malt base for a TIPA, which is interesting paired up with some hefty sabro hoppage. Wasn't so sure in the beginning but it's grown on me.and opened up. Pretty bonkers stuff.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours deep purple with a small off-white head. The aroma is bready malts, ripe cherry, cherry drops, bramble jam, cereal and fruit compote. The taste is firmly dry, lightly tart, juicy, ripe cherry, bramble, berry yoghurt, jammy, touch of granny smith apple, wet hay, earthy, bready and a touch of spice with a drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Lacks a bit of depth and life. Fruit feels a bit muddled in there. Fair.

Can (5.5% ABC) from Hop Shop Aberdeen. Clear golden body with a thin white head. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of lemon sherbet, orange and Lockets. Flavour of lemon, lime and grapefruit zest. Thin to medium body with a slick texture. Light fizz. Sharp and zingy. A decent Sour IPA - should have been labelled so on the front of the can in my opinion.

Bottle ordered from Hoptimism. Aroma combines herbs and honey for a mixed sour effect. Hazy bright gold. Thin bubbly foamy translucent white head. Light sour. Dry vinous and spice. Followed by a sweet streak. Thin. Light. Extremely lively fizzy carbonation. Dry finish. A light and refreshing summer beer. Only I've been sat in the spare room all day rather than out in sunny fields.

On tap at Fiasco. It pours a lightly unclear orange-colored body under a dense finger-thick white head. The aroma has that typical Belgian blond yeasty twist, fruity and lightly spiced, without any fruit or spice standing out. Some pale malts in the back. It's dry and nicely carbonated, with a suitable bitterness. Fruity flavor too, some pine cone notes I guess come from the hops, along with some peppery, herbal hints and a light bready pale malt flavor in the back. Fruity, lightly piney and spiced finish. A quite delicious Belgo-blond with a modern twist.
