Description
six°north was established in 2013. The concept was born in Belgium when founder Robert Lindsay fell in love with the country’s beer culture and tradition. He soon returned to north east Scotland to start brewing his own beers, six°north of Brussels. We make modern, artisanal beers that are driven by Belgian brewing tradition and inspired by modern brewing practices.

Our beers are unfiltered and carbonated naturally through secondary fermentation. We brew classic Belgian inspired beers, as well as modern, hop-forward styles. We also release a number of collaboration beers each year with other breweries.

Can from Cork and Cask. Pours just-clear amber with a thin beige head. Aromas of tropical fruit, caramel, peach stone, dried herbs. Taste is a little boozy, but there's a lot going on. Very interesting.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours murky dirty orange with a hazy white head. The aroma is ripe and tropical, intoxicating coconut, pina colada, bubblegum, mango, peach, milky, creamy, touch herbal abs green. The taste is dry, some bitterness, green, herbal, damp grass, vegetal sorachi ace, spicy, metallic, tropical fruits, splash of Pina colada, pithy, zesty citrus, bitter peel, quite savoury and savoury. Medium body and average carbonation. I had high hopes for this.... then I taste the sorachi ace.... Quite like it on the aroma, but there is that green veg / herbal / fennel that is hard to swallow. I am sure others will like it more.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours black with a dark tan head - a looker for sure. The aroma is rich roasted malt, umami, liquorice, bitter dark chocolate, dark fruits, bramble accents and some coffee grounds. The taste is dry, rich roasted malt, umami, coffee grounds, liquorice, touch of tar, dark fruits/berries in the backdrop, light char, tar, toothy, nice level of chewiness, mild pipe smoke and a touch of reassuring alcohol. Finishes up smooth and roasty. Medium+ body and moderate, dense carbonation. Not big and showy, bit fulsome and moreish. Enjoyable stuff.
