Description
six°north was established in 2013. The concept was born in Belgium when founder Robert Lindsay fell in love with the country’s beer culture and tradition. He soon returned to north east Scotland to start brewing his own beers, six°north of Brussels. We make modern, artisanal beers that are driven by Belgian brewing tradition and inspired by modern brewing practices.

Our beers are unfiltered and carbonated naturally through secondary fermentation. We brew classic Belgian inspired beers, as well as modern, hop-forward styles. We also release a number of collaboration beers each year with other breweries.

Bottle from Westhill Service Station. It pours cloudy red with a quickly dissipating white head. The aroma is sweet - sour, tangy raspberry, raspberry yoghurt and slighty woodsy. The taste is crisp, firmly dry, puckering, tart raspberry, sherbet dib dab, refreshers, minerality, touch of yoghurt and a touch of apple skin. Medium body and fine, prickly. Not a huge amount to it tbh, but it has plenty of raspberry and a nice tart edge.

Bottle from Westhill Service Station. It pours clear deep red with a thick, lasting beige cap. The aroma is sweet - sour, juicy, tangy, great depth of red fruit, cherry, redcurrant, raspberry, jammy, vinous and also some oak spice. The taste is firmly dry initially, then tart and puckering, zingy and tangy, plenty of red fruit and berries, raspberry, cherry, some deep funk, brett, barnyard, vinous red wine, touch of sour candy and oak tannins with a drying, funky finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Lovely stuff. Great fruity vinous character and funk. Comes together very well.

330ml bottle from Honest Brew. Look - murky dark brown, big light-beige frothy head of which a half-finger worth stays the course. Looks good. Aroma - sweet lightly roasted malts, stone fruits. Not getting much complexity. Taste - sweet malts, light roast, stone fruity hop with a touch of resin, moderate bitterness. Fairly tasty if a bit light and not too complex. Palate - medium bodied and a frothy carbonation mouthfeel. Not one of the best Black IPAs.
