12 oz. can. Pitch black pour, with a thin film of tan bubbles that leaves a small ring. The nose is vanilla, bittersweet chocolate, chicory, and some smoke. Sweet and malty, with a mild bitterness in the finish. Medium to heavy body, chalky, and syrupy. A solid porter.

This beer pours a dark brown color with ruby around the edges, and a medium foamy light beige head that dissipates steadily to a dense film. Sticky strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt and pumpkin spice. Light to medium body with flavors of cinnamon, roast malt and graham cracker. The finish is sweet with a malt and pumpkin pie aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Put up the picture this afternoon. A beer from Don’s hometown he hasn’t rated yet. Nose is black raisins, caramel, and a hint of smoke. Clear very dark brown with a medium lightly lacing beige head. Flavor is malty, sweet, and lightly smoky.

21 ratings and I get to upload the cans picture. 12 oz can from Total Beverage Westminster. Nose is vanilla, chocolate, and a hint of char. Dark brown with a medium lightly lacing beige head. Flavor is lightly sweet with coffee, and very nutty. Very good for a 5.5% brew.

12 oz can purchased at Molly’s in Denver during my recent trip. Listed as Clan Warrior Strong Scotch Ale. Eh, close enough. Pours a near black with a quick fading fizz head. Spice forward malty aroma. Flavor is rich, and almost has a hinted sour background. Caramel malt, smooth flavor, medium body. I’d say there is a hint of smoke in there. Very nice array of flavor here. Sweet, spicey, smokey, maybe sour. Has it all. Very enjoyable beer.

Can - turbid gold pour - very sweet nose, with notes of white frosting, baked apples, over-ripe banana, clove, some white pepper - flat, flabby texture - sweet flavor, with some sharp acidity through the middle and finish - strong clove, over-ripe apple, soggy grain - white pepper and strong clove - like a messy weizenbock - meh.

Tap at TAG Burger Bar as "Clan Warrior" - same style and abv, so I assumed it was the same beer - dark purple - minimal head - nose is moderate earthy smoke and strong sweetness (toffee, sticky plums) - body is a bit thin, but the flavor is hearty enough, I suppose - strong sweetness, but with some smoke, spicy alcohol, and a slight acidity to keep it just below cloying territory - as it warms, the thinness of the texture become a lot more apparent, and the flavor becomes mostly focused on sweet toffee character - some underlying interesting stuff going on, but very subdued - just okay.

Argonaut Liquors, Denver sixer of cans: Pours golden hazy with white head. Aroma is sweet banana, clove, and yeast. Taste is pretty sweet, but seems relatively true to form and nice. Banana flavors are quite strong. Nothing offensive about this at all. Good session hefeweizen. Can is kind of weird with the plastic wrapper around it.

Can - cloudy dark orange - nose is sweet and heavy with esters of banana and Juicy Fruit chewing gum - moderate peppery phenols and toasty wheat underneath - watery texture, moderate carbonation - very sweet and ester heavy - a lot of banana - mild spiciness and a hint of clove - overly sweet finish, with a fair amount of bubble gum flavor and a splash of grainy wheat - meh - and I bought a whole six pack of this - dang it.
