Description
Ingenious Brewing is the brainchild of owners Mike and Justin. Mike is a multi-award winning home brewer turned professional brewer who has been honing his brewing technique for over 15 years in his home state of Pennsylvania. Justin, originally from Houston, began brewing with Mike over 10 years ago while on station in Pennsylvania for work. Both holding degrees in science, they enjoyed tinkering with recipes by applying knowledge of the chemical properties found in the ingredients of beer. Over time this process led to exceptional and inventive beer. Ingenious perfectly symbolizes our philosophy that brewing beer is equal parts science and creativity.

12 oz. can from H.E.B. Plus, Boerne, TX. Pours a super dark brown color with root beer colored highlights and a thick beige head with excellent retention. Decent lacing. Roasted dark malt aroma. Really good roasted dark malt flavor too. Almost charred. Very stout-like overall, except for the ligher body. Very smooth and clean too. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Not bitter. Great beer.

Grrrowlers with a bunch of doggos. Donkey Kong labeled can at Grrrowlers in Plano. Opaque, brown on black, weak froth. Caramelized milk sugars, white bread, good acid on the nose. Taste is charred banana, cooked milk, caramel frap. Tons of calories. Good dessert end cap.

On tap @...On Tap. Dark honey, hazy, mostly still pour. Fumy, apple-peach, condensed nectar, perfume-y nose. Juicy mix of potpourri, malic acid, sour gummies, twangy peach skin & savory sweet cooked down peaches. Sourness is strong but countered by a rindy bitter-sweetness. Cutting. Intense. Good+ in small doses.

Another 12 oz can from a time in Cedar Park, found at the Total Wine on Lakeline. I have a snifter from ABGB in nearby Austin prepared to catch the pour. There's a cloudy, off-yellow liquid and a small head of completely white foam. I do like the nose, it has plenty of tropical going for it along with a hint of hops. The drink is strongly pineapple sweet, kiwi, melon, a touch of white bread and field. Not a bad beer but that sweetness is too much for me. And I had high hopes.
