Poured from 473mL can. Near black with small tan head. Simple roast malt forward with just a hint of vanilla. The simplicity is the key here. Clean and roasty, the vanilla just adds a pop at the end. Surprise from Ravens.

473mL can. Pours black with a tan head. Bready malts, vanilla, and chocolate on the nose. Flavour has a really nice dry roasted malt character, burn bread crusts, dry dark sugars, vanilla beans. This is a great, roasty stout.

473mL can, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has plenty of dark roasted malts, plenty of vanilla, and a touch of cocoa. Flavour is deep, with plenty of dark roasted malt, vanilla, and some cocoa. Deep roasted malt at the base that is very satisfying, with just enough vanilla. This is surprisingly great.

On tap at Barley Merchant, pours a cloudy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma has gentle jalapeños, a touch of mango, and salty citric acid. Flavour is salty and spicy, with plenty of jalapeño pepper, plenty of salt, lacto, and citrus. Finished spicy, acidic and salty. Not egregious but this doesn’t work as is.

16oz (thx, Alex!) @ Ryan's.
Aroma: roasted malt, some fruity notes, a bit grassy.
Taste: along the same lines, moderately roasty, low to moderately sweet. Finishes with quite high bitterness.
Overall: good for what it is.

Poured from 473mL can. Very dark brown with small beige head. Decent roast malt with feint fruit notes, a bit boozy, hint of bitterness on the finish. Decent.

473mL can, pours a clear bright golden. Nose has some grassy hops, not much of the NZ hop character, and dry biscuity malt. Flavour is crisp, grassy and bitter, with dry biscuity mal and grassy hops. Would never have guessed NZ hops were in here. It’s decent.

Can pour at East Side Beer Fest. Pours clear amber with an off-white head. Nose has rich malts. Flavour is chewy and malty, moderate sweetness. Nothing exceptional, but still enjoyable.
