Luppolo (pronounced loop-o-lo) means hops in Italian. We chose an Italian name due to the Italian heritage of two of our owners and because the values associated with Italian culture–quality, craftsmanship, community and family–are central to our vision.

On tap at Luppolo. Pours clear blonde with a white head. Nose is fairly light with only a faint, generic fresh hop character. Flavour has a nice bitter hop profile, lots of pine, not as much woodiness as I'd expect from Chinook, and a pale malt base. It's a fine West Coast pilsner, but as a Chinook fresh hop I would have liked a bit more.

On tap at Luppolo. Pours clear blonde with a white head. Light biscuity nose with some dry grass. Flavour is fully of light bready malts, straw, and crisp grassy hops with a bit of a bite. This is a great lager.

On tap at Luppolo. Pours hazy blonde with a white head. An earthy yeast character, a bit dusty, and some tropical, grassy hops on the nose. Flavour has a pretty rustic yeast profile, Brett coming through, very light acidity, and some tangy hops. Nice, very pleasant and clean.

On tap at Luppolo. Pours clear gold with a white head. Loads of allium with some some notes of pine and tangy Nelson on the nose. Flavour is dominated by allium with some crisp pine notes, a touch tangy, and a bitter grassy onion finish. It is crisp and hoppy, but damn that's a lot of Citra.

473 ml can. Pours a dark brown with full light tan head. Aromas of roasted malts, plastic and salty chocolate. Flavors of roasted malts and a huge dose of kelp; and not in a good way. Almost a drain pour after having an 8.4 rated beer.
Why don’t BC brewers focus on making big flavorful stouts instead of adding crap to fairly low ABV/malt base beers?

On tap at Luppolo, pours a clear copper golden with a small white head. Aroma is pretty laid-back—can’t say I get much Chinook—with some fresh doughy notes, not much else. Flavour is likewise full of fresh doughy notes, finishing with a pronounced lingering bitterness. Chinook is one of my favourite hops, so I’m disappointed I don’t get its characteristic woody pine expression, but this is still reasonably constructed. Decent.

On tap at Luppolo, pours a clear pale golden with a small white head. Aroma has intense allium, saved a little by the nice tangy Nelson hops, with some pine, floral notes, and then more allium—damn that’s some overly pungent Citra. Flavour is very bitter and very oniony, with Citra that dominated to the point of ruining this—just way too much allium. There’s some nice Nelson in the background but it can’t rescue this from the Citra. Reasonable structure but get rid of the Citra.

On tap at Luppolo, pours a clear golden with a large fluffy white head. Aroma has plenty of toasted malt, straw, and a touch of grassy hops. Flavour is clean-ish, with grassy notes, toasted malt, and straw. Finishes fairly bitter and crisp. Not particularly vibrant or dialled in, but competently done. Solid.

On tap at Luppolo, pours a cloudy, muddled yellow with a small white head. Aroma is overtaken by the marshmallow, with little else detectable. Flavour is also dominated by the marshmallow; there’s some residual bitterness in back, but this just ends up tasting like artificial candy. Poor.
