500ml bottle from Super Liquor in Waiheke at Vrbo. Transparent brown-burgundy pour with thin sudsy white head. Aroma is sweet, spicy, nutty, and boozy in a very nice way. Some warm spiced fruit - raisins. Taste is more nutty and spicy, with some sweetness, good booze and spice in finish. Finish is sticky toffee warm fruit and rye spice. Palate is rich and smooth but with decent carbonation. Good!

Bottle at Dark Sky in Tekapo at start of honeymoon. Pitch black pour with puffy fine tan head. Aroma is roasted coffee and chocolate with metallic bitterness. Taste is crisp bitter, slightly metallic at first, then roasted coffee beans. Bitter finish. Light palate. Not bad. A bit metallic.

355ml can into pint glass. From Dan Murphy's, Armidale. Golden amber beer with very light carbonation and large frothy white head. Very faint aroma of rice. Patchy lacing. Sweet lager, quite crisp at first. Finish is more sweetness and late sour rice notes. Not horrible but very sweet for a 'Japanese' lager, none of the usual 'dryness'.

Thanks Jonno. Aroma is oaky, bit of spice and smoke, black treacle. Taste is very good, soft, roast, mellow. Fruity. Treacle again. Great stuff.

(Can) Pours black with a small tan head. Great aroma - dark roast malt, coffee, nuts, maybe a hint of oak. Medium body with good carbonation. A nice balance of sweet and bitter. The bitterness is mainly dark roast malt and a burnt sugar dark toffee taste. There’s a surprising light candy sweetness in the background. Notes of coffee and red berries and maybe a hint of oak. Very drinkable.
