Nat and Callum Reeves are the duo behind KAIJU! Beer and Golden Axe Cider. After releasing a Double IPA back in 2013 that not only got a lot of attention, but single handedly caused a statewide shortage of Simcoe hops, the brothers quickly established themselves as the original hopmasters. Since then, they have been very busy growing the KAIJU! Beer range of hop-driven beers, all made at the brewery in Dandenong South, Victoria.

375ml can from Beer52. Clear amber-gold colour, small white creamy looking head, good retention and lacing. Aroma of malts, caramel, orange, pine, resin. Taste follows nose, although there is a lighter grapefruit note just before a bold dry bitterness kicks in with resinous hops. There is enough sweetness and lighter hop-fruit note to balance. Impressive.

(Can) Pours hazy amber with good white head. Very hoppy pine aroma. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Taste is very hoppy from start to finish. There’s some good bitterness and some caramel malt makes its way through the hops. Bold, well balanced, and very drinkable.

Can. Red, slightly pink head that's soon gone. Somewhat cloying aroma of hibiscus and dope. Only really sour enough to balance the hibiscus. Plenty dopey though. Moderately bitter. Not really for me - too much hibiscus - but interesting and directed.

Pours rose tinted amber, large head. Nose shows weed, hibiscus, super dank. A bit of musk stick and fairy floss also.Flavours include more musk sticks and hibiscus, a gentle acidity.

Can. Pale gold with a small white head. Oozy pine aroma with some breadcrust, mango skin, kumquat. Fairly sweet at first but lots of pine, some tropical and citrus fruit and firm bitterness sweep it away. Almost too much at the end. Rollicking.

Tap. Gold, lasting white head. Citrus and pine aroma with light bread and hints of mango skin. Lean and crackery with pretty straightforward citrus and pine hops, highish bitterness.
