Description
IT TAKES A VILLAGE
Some of the best things happen over beer. Ideas are born, friendships forged, deals struck, communities built. That’s how Village Brewery began, friends sharing beers and dreams. Around the table, we had close to a century and a half of brewing experience. One of us was a legendary Canadian brewmaster. Naturally the talk turned to the art and craft of better beer, then to secret sources of malts and hops. By last call we had dreamed up a true community brewery. A brewery that would support Calgary’s artists and craftspeople. A brewery that would create the excellent ales and lagers our friends and neighbors deserve. That talk over beer started the brewery that handcrafted the fine brew you hold in your hand. Please join our table, lift a pint and salute the Village of Calgary. It takes a Village to raise a beer. And a beer to raise a Village.

473ml can shared with my wife. Pours clear with a slight straw coloured hue and a small, fizzy, short lived, white head that fully dissipates. Sweet aroma of pineapple, guava and faint red apple. Sweet flavour of guava, pineapple, mango and red apple in a slightly tart finish. Light body with a watery texture and lively carbonation. Too sweet for me. Almost drinks like a soda.

355 ml can. Pours a copper color with full head. Aromas of caramel malts, raisins and sweetened fruit. Flavors of bready malts, candi sugar and raisins. Sweet and off point for a Belgian Dubbel but nice enough overall.

Can 47,3 cl. Pous an opaque black with a thick and frothy, beige head leaving a neat lacework. Fairly discreet roast aroma with a hint of licorice. Solid body, but for the style actually to the light side. Soft roast, plenty of licorice notes, lightly salty with hardly any bitterness. Smooth and easygoing. 020325

Growler purchased at metro liquors in calgary. Black pour, medium brown head. Roasted malts, light coffee, and some slight, very slight piney hops. Mouth feel os a little heavy and the carb underwhelming. This is basically a slightly hopper porter, not great, but also not bad.

Many thanks for this can to mr Marek. From Sweden (Systembolaget). My new Region no. 331 (Alberta). Piwo ze spora piana, ladna dwu fazowa, trwala, po chwili warstwa dolna ciemno bezowa przechodzi do gory i te jasna zmienia na bezowo ciemna, trwala, Fajna stylowa puszka, slodki profil, pachnie prazonymi migdalami, orzechami pekan. W smaku ciut nutelli i pojawia sie fajna i wyrazna goryczka, po pol godz robi sie wytrawniej i winniej. Barwa ciemno brazowa, nie przejrzysta. Bardzo bobry imperial stout.
