I came across this 12 oz bottle last month at the Total Wine in The Villages, Florida. My first venture with Funky Buddha since they do not distribute near me, I have increased expectations because of the style and the vanilla. I pull out a snifter from a TX brewery before making the pour. An unsurprising dark mahogany liquid followed by a lingering skim of tawny brown foam. The nose is promising with dark chocolate, cocoa, baked bread and a hint of vanilla. I lift the glass for a drink and I can say I am not disappointed. Heavy with the chocolate, grain, a hoppy note, German chocolate cake, malt, vanilla, some booziness providing a small burn and all this finished with a nice bitterness. I believe I am off to a good start with the brewery.

Bottle, 355 ml, courtesy of and shared with the DC crew. Brown with small beige head. Chocolate, nuts, sweetish, but also somehow dusty cocoa and caramel. Medium bodied.

Sweet bourbon and a little lime. Definitely tastes like a cocktail, but not a great beer. Mahogany pour with ok head. Very sweet and boozy. Not really something I would recommend.

12oz bottle pours a clear garnet amber with a ring of white head. Nose is cherry and booze and caramel. Flavor is all caramel and butterscotch. Woof. Cloying finish. Wow. Bad.

Bottle from R, many thanks! Thick black with tan head. Loads of chocolat, coffee, wood, maple, caramel. Very soft texture. Sweet, but not over the top. Great stuff!

Bottle shared by cgarvieuk. Appearance - deep black with a fawn head. Nose - syrup and chocolate mainly. A hint of coffee but looks like the bacon aspect has faded. Taste - again syrup and chocolate dominant. Some coffee. Palate - medium bodied and creamy textured. Light roast. Overall - very nice.
