(On tap @ the brewpub, Toronto, Mar 7/20) Pours extremly murky rusty brownish red with a small off white head, definitely not a pretty beer. Aroma is heavy red wine, red berries, oak, sweet toffee malt, acetone/alcohol, some bittering hops. Flavour is pretty sweet and caramel malt-forward, red wine, berries, vanilla oak, potpourri, alcohol heat that becomes quite prominent in the finish, moderate bitterness. Medium-bodied, average carbonation. This is a pretty rough beer, if it wasn't at the end of a long day of beer I might have set it aside.

On tap at Black Lab, pours an opaque, bright peachy orangey yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of pithy stone fruits, moderate dank hops, and biscuity malt. Flavour is chalky and pithy, with lots of citrus rind, pithy stone fruits, and gentle dank hops. Pithy and dank, a fruity bit dry finish. Good stuff.

On tap at Black Lab, pours a murky, rusted dark red with a tiny beige head - looks pretty bad. Aroma is intense on the red wine barrels, with some nail polish remover, caramel, and red fruits. Flavour is fairly intense, with lots of red wine barrels, perfume, caramel and red fruits. Very boozy and rather harsh. Similar issue as the BA Anubis, in that the barrels impart a rather harsh perfumey character. It's alright, but difficult to drink.

On tap at Black Lab, pours a cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of apricots, with a touch of lacto. Flavour is fairly one-dimensional, full of tart apricots upfront, backed by lacto. Not a whole lot of depth, but the fruit is nicely expressed. Decent.

On tap at Black Lab, pours a deep dark brown / near-black with a reddish tinge and a small tan head. Aroma is intense and rather harsh, with red wine barrels, nail polish remover, and some residual cocoa. Flavour is more friendly on the palate, with lots of red fruits, light vanilla, and heaps of red wine. There's still lots of residual sweetness, finishing with tannins and red fruits. Fun beer, but it is somewhat harsh and unrefined.

On tap at Black Lab, pours a cloudy bright pink with a small white head. Aroma brings out gentle hibiscus, with subdued piney hops, and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is mostly piney hops and biscuity malt, with only a hint of the hibiscus. This is how I'd like hibiscus beers to be sometimes, just a slight accentuation on whatever the base beer is. Good stuff.
