Description
Back in spring of 2013, word got around Elora that two different beer lovin’n groups of friends wanted to open a brewery: Matt and Jim were home brew buddies, and business colleagues Jon and Don eventually met up with brewer Alex and the two groups met. Many beers were drank. Many slurred conversations were had, and eventually the wheels were put in motion to open a brewery. Fast forward and the doors were opened a year later after a massive transformation of a beautiful, 150+ year-old limestone building. Since then, Elora Brewing Company has brewed hundreds of beers (we’re talking millions of litres of people) and become Elora’s number one late-night hot-spot and day-time hangout. And we make kick-ass beer too.

Bottle from the lcbo. Cloudy orange pour with a big white head. Aroma is bursting with citrus oils and tropical fruit. Mouth feel is thin, carb is very low. Finish is low on the bitterness scale and the tropical fruit fades big time and leaves subtle citrus and grass. Meh.

Bottle from the LCBO. Hazy orange pour, huge white head, bottle gushed everywhere upon opening. Aroma is candied citrus zest, stone fruit and chewy malts. Mouth feel is soft, carb is more of the same. Finish is low on the bitterness side, lots of fruit, malts are well balanced.

Hazy golden, bright coloured with a touch of orange hue. A big frothy, bubbly white head, good retention and lots of foamy lacing left. Lemon zest aromas with light orange juice base, oatmeal blending. The taste shows more citrus zest, peel with waxy notes. Some decent bitterness at first, but calms down and dryness is left lingering. Lots of particles come out at last pour with a creamier head. Not a bad, good-looking hazy IPA, but nothing much standing out, except the wax notes, which is not one that makes me come back to it.

Lightly hazed, golden-yellow with a white frothy head, good retention and some thick foamy lacing. Citrus lemon zest aromas with some grapefruit peel, juices and mild sweetness from the oats. The flavours are very zest-peel oriented with the citrus fruitiness. Fairly dry finish. A decent APA with citrusy peel dryness and light bitterness.

Can LCBO. Pours a cloudy pink, reministant of guava, with a sheet of white head. Aserbic sour notes, with a general fruity smell that gets my mouth a-waterin'. Huh. Thinner than I thought it would be, so much so I went back to see if this was a session, it isn't. All that tart nose doesn't deliver much sour bite, but it is mildly there. Mild stone fruit. This one just under-delivers.

Hazy peach-amber colour with a frothy, soapy white-pinkish cap, good stay and some streaks of lacing. Cherry sour nose with the mild plums. Not crazy sour in the taste with the fruitiness and light tart in the finish. Usually feel plums will be linked to some darker beers. This one seems to show more cherries than plums. It is fine, and a sour that does not pucker up, as all is mildly balanced.

A hazed blonde lager with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, nice biscuit malt with German hops, light mineral notes, pleasant and smooth. In mouth, a nice biscuit malt with German grassy hops, light chalky notes, OK.
