Description
A lot goes into making great tasting beer and spirit. It takes the right ingredients delicately balanced together to produce that great taste you’re looking for. It takes experience and a team of brewmasters and distillers who are dedicated to the craft of beverages. It takes an understanding of what people want when they crack one open on a warm summer night, a weekend spent catching up with good friends, or at the end of a long hike.

At Prickly Moses Brewing Co we think it takes all of the above, but we also think it takes something else. We call it Otway magic, but you might know her as Mother Nature. We’re an independent brewery and the home of the Prickly Moses Brewery, Forbidden Fruit Cidery and Redwood Distillery. Some local brands you know and love.

Tap at the Great Ocean Road Brewhouse. Cloudy golden, offwhite lace. Tropical hop notes, pineapple, mango, grape notes. Medium body, mellow mouthfeel. The blend with the Chardonnay works really well: Tropical and pastoral fruity notes on a dry bed. Medium body, chewy, dry. Light wooden on the tip of the tongue. Awesome!

Dark brown color. Sweet molasses, cotton candy and cocoa exude from the nose. The mouth is medium body and a bit sweeter than typical IBAs. The beer is really about the malt character and it shines with tons of cocoa with some roastiness, joined with cotton candy. Not such a bitter finish. Malty sweet, but highly enjoyable from a guy who likes hoppy IBAs.

Bottle. Bright pale amber with a puffy inch of head that lasts. High bead. Huge melon and passionfruit aroma with grapefruit, mango, some bread, light spices. From the aroma you could easily believe it’s actually got Chardonnay in it; from the taste it’s very clear it has (and not the sort I much like). The beer pretty much holds its own though, with some bread, peach and spicy bitterness. I like but don’t love it, but it is very well done.

Pours amber with a large head.Nose shows sweet clean malt, confectionery notes, light lychee, papaya and guava.Similar flavours, very clean, some soft cookie dough-like malt, a little pear and apple. Hints of chardonnay in the finish, not sure if it’s necessary though.

Bottle at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a hazy straw colour with a frothy white head. The aroma is yeast, a little herby, some hops. The flavour is light bitter with a light tropical fruit citrus palate. Light bodied with average carbonation. Somewhat light all around. Not sure what the brewer wanted but I don’t think this was it.

Bottle. Very pale gold with a coat of white head. Aroma of honey, melon, passionfruit. Quite low carbonation worked quite well. Sweet hay and honey, gentle tropical fruit (contra the description, no citrus at all) and a finish that is more dry than bitter. Refreshing.
