Description
A lot goes into making great tasting beer and spirit. It takes the right ingredients delicately balanced together to produce that great taste you’re looking for. It takes experience and a team of brewmasters and distillers who are dedicated to the craft of beverages. It takes an understanding of what people want when they crack one open on a warm summer night, a weekend spent catching up with good friends, or at the end of a long hike.

At Prickly Moses Brewing Co we think it takes all of the above, but we also think it takes something else. We call it Otway magic, but you might know her as Mother Nature. We’re an independent brewery and the home of the Prickly Moses Brewery, Forbidden Fruit Cidery and Redwood Distillery. Some local brands you know and love.

Bottle from Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a hazy light amber with a frothy white head and a few bubbles. The aroma is big blueberry, light yeast. The flavour is light sweet, even lighter acid sour, with a dry mineral smooth blueberry, light yeast palate. Moderate to light bodied with lively carbonation. Nicely balanced and very refreshing.

Bottle at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is dry malt light caramel. The flavour is moderate bitter with a medium roasty dry biscuit malt, light hop light liqourice bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. A little light and a little too liqourice bitter for me, but id certainly order another so it can’t be so bad.

Tap at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear medium amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is yeast, sweet malt, ripe fruit. The flavour is moderate bitter with a soft fruity light resin hop palate. Moderate to light bodied with soft carbonation. I’m no fan of red ales, but this is one of the better ones I’ve had.

Aromas of coffee, grapefruit and honey. Lovely winter beer with plenty of roasted malt and hops in the mouth. The alcohol is very prominent in the back of the throat, but I’m enjoying that. It’s dry as a chip.

Very dark with a slight tan head. Excellent rich roasty aroma. Light to medium body with nice carbonation. This beer has a very unusual and surprisingly flavour. The aroma and appearance lines up you expectations for a rich velvety stout or similar, but the foretaste is sour, in the best possible way, but it’s a sour beer initially. The richer sweeter dark malt flavours then steadily develop in a way that complements the sourness wonderfully. The is a coffeeish bitterness in the finish. Overall this is a very unusual and clever beer that works very well. The mix of two styles, and the surprise value of the mismatch between initial taste and aroma and appearance is great.
