Bottle. Dark brown colour. A couple of bubbles but that’s it. There’s some Mexican chocolate aroma (abuelita), along with rice krispies, Bitter chocolate, with a slight vanilla note. Moderate body. Overall it ends up as a decent beer, let down from a really good nose.

22 oz. bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out bourbon barrels upfront, with little detection of the chocolate or anything else. Flavour is quite dry, with lots of dark chocolate / cocoa nibs upfront, followed by more subdued whiskey barrels that show themselves more with each additional sip. Not especially deep, but the dark dry cocoa nibs really show themselves. Nice, but not in excellent territory.

Draft at the collective. A bit hazy blonde. A well controlled ester beer. A little lemon kick at end of flavor. Lighter body. Probably the best a small Martian brewery can do with this sryle. Misses a lot of the common mistakes.

Hazy deep copper coloured body with a rich, two centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of malt, cereal, earth, toffee and caramel - not too much of any of those, just around the board. Medium-bodied; Assertive bitter and pungent nuttiness with a heavy metallic and toffee bitterness that is harsh around the edges without showing much hops at all. Aftertaste is deep, aggressive and very malty with earthy and metallic flavours the strongest. Overall, not such a great Imperial IPA and frankly, not such a good beer in general. Definitely worth passing over and even more so, if you are thinking of packing this in a suitcase and bringing it across the whole of the country, like I did. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Seattle (WestLake), Washington [State] on 18-February-2016 for US$,799 sampled at home in [the real] Washington on 23-May-2016.

Reddish brown. Sweet and brown sugar. Has a light hint of sweet malt, I don’t get a lot of barrel. Dryish finish but nothing specifically doppelbockish.

Tasting at Josh’s
Dark mahogany color. Big Whiskey/Bourbon aroma, caramel. Very sweet, mellow, blends well with the caramel flavor and bourbon. A bit more boozy and less sweet in the final.
Nice sipper.

Light to medium body with flavors of burnt malt, bittersweet chocolate and coffee. The finish is roasty with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.
