Clean light-golden colour with a big head, slightly off-white with decent stay and some foamy lace. Malty nose of blonde cereal grain with hints of hops. Grainy cereal malt taste with some sweetness but not a long finish. The hops also shows up a little in the end creating a very mild dryness. Hints of apples lingers. Not bad, but a little too sweet for my likings and not the right hops for this style.

After having their first two brews as bad experience, I really hope this one will not be the same (Armchair and Pale Ale had bad, weird hops). Pours a real dark brown, almost black colour with very little dark ruby highlights. Beautiful frothy-creamy mocha head, long lasting with good lacing. Aromas of roasted malts, with notes of coffee, chocolate malts and dark fruits. Same for the taste, but milder with hints of vanilla (the smoothness of the oat) to balance things out. An easier to drink Oatmeal Stout and what a change from the other two brews I had from this brewery. There is hope.

Pours a clean amber colour with a big frothy beige head, good retention and thick foamy lacing. The hop is kind of sharp in the nose taking away from the caramel and roasted malts. Wow, just like their Armchair Scotch Ale, seems like the hops used in here is totally not the right one. Maybe got a special on this one. Sucks!! Fruity malts help this out a bit. Again, not a well-balanced brew. Looks good. That’s about it.

Keg at my Uncle’s. Light gold with a thin white head. Bready eggy aroma with a light body that gives grainy semi-sweet oat flavor with a light tang. A good no muss no fuss beer you don’t need to think about.

Maclean's Armchair Scotch Ale 7.5% Bottle from my uncle shared with my brother. Malty candied Apple and cinnamon pear aroma. The taste is a chewey malt Rich breadiness, caramel and nuts. Good stuff. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a clean amber colour with bigger bubbles than usual. The head is nice with some creaminess, foaminess, decent retention and creamy lacing. Aromas of rusty water, then yeast and some mild dark fruits (raisins, plums). The taste is even worst, so not balanced. Seems like the hops used here are not the proper ones, adding some bad grass notes over the caramel malts and hints of nuts. Not super horrible, but not something I would have again. Not a great first experience from this brewery. Nice label though.

Bottle from the LCBO. Hazy medium amber with an ample off white head that fades slowly and leaves some lace. Nose is earthy with grass dominant over some light honey and some fruit. Flavour is similar with just a light sweetness and a medium light dry bitterness. Medium mouth with slightly soft carbonation. Well balanced English style IPA.
