Description
Strange Brew was established in late 2015, when three friends and homebrewers decided that plastic buckets were no longer enough, and was officially introduced to the fans of craft beer on May 2017, with Jasmine IPA. We started our journey from Laconiki Brewery near the ancient city of Sparta, where we also produced three more beers under the name of Uncle Jam's Brewhouse Tales, which is our alternate one-off project. Being a true nomadic brewery,we now produce our beers at Chios Microbrewery on the namesake island. Uncompromising by default, Strange Brew is on it's way to change the beer status in Greece, which has come a long way already!

Sampled @ The Tenth Official Danish Ratebeer Summer Gathering 2017, Day 2. A clear golden beer with a mid-sized most good lasting off-white head. Aroma of green tea, citrus hops, quite fruity. Taste of very hoppy fruits, green tea, apricot, orange juice, interesting!

Sampled @ 10th Danish Ratebeer Gathering, Ulfborg, Day 2. Clear golden color, medium sized white head that diminishes after a short while. Aroma is malts and very nicely hoppy. Taste malts, some fruit hops, hops, hop bitter. Something in the aroma is very pleasantly fruity hoppy, but I don’t get that same lovely fruity hoppiness in the flavor. Still a decent IPA though. -- Rerate from a very fresh bottle thanks to Rouhlas as part of the Euro Swap. Hazy appearance now, woud rate that a 2 so minus 0.1 in total score. Flavor however didn't have the pleasant fruity hop notes says my original rating. It does have that now so up from 7 to 8 which means plus 0.1 in total. In the end it does taste a little better so I'm gonna upgrade overall with 0.1 as well. From 3.5 to 3.6 in the end.

Tap at the hoppy pub, Thessaloniki. A strange brew indeed. Incrdidbly floral, a bit synthetic sweet. Wasn’t keen.

From tap at the Hoppy Pub, Thessaloniki. Light hazy golden color with white head. Malty and hoppy aroma, bread, caramel, floral, citrusy fruity, light grass, light tropical and stone fruits. Moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter taste like aroma. Almost medium oily body with soft carbonation.

Bottle @ O Mpampas (Koukaki, Athens). Pours orange with small white head. Medium body, slightly oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation, slightly dry bitter finish. Medium bitterness from the hops, tropical and summer fruits like pineapple and melon on the tongue, similar aromas. Not too strong for an IPA, yet totally enjoyable, refreshing and tasty. A very good start for another new entry at the Greek microbrewery scene.
