Description
Strange Brew was established in late 2015, when three friends and homebrewers decided that plastic buckets were no longer enough, and was officially introduced to the fans of craft beer on May 2017, with Jasmine IPA. We started our journey from Laconiki Brewery near the ancient city of Sparta, where we also produced three more beers under the name of Uncle Jam's Brewhouse Tales, which is our alternate one-off project. Being a true nomadic brewery,we now produce our beers at Chios Microbrewery on the namesake island. Uncompromising by default, Strange Brew is on it's way to change the beer status in Greece, which has come a long way already!
Later batches brewed at Alea (Metamorphosis), since 2025 Strange Brews has their own brewing facility in Peristeri.

Can, MH 2026, huge thanks Fin! Hazy yellowish body, off-white head falling apart. Herbal aroma, bit of pineapple, some lychee - definitely modern hops, hah. Lean, dry, flat taste, bitter hoppiness up front, tea & vague white grapes. Okay, at least it's not worty.

Can courtesy of Kostas, Kykao brewery, cheers Kostas!. Had this in the company of Jonas, Ursula and Marko Sunday 15th February 2026 after a busy weekend of beer tasting. Pours hazy light gold with a white head, agree with Loz nice aroma but beer doesn't quite live up to the aroma, it's okay, hoppy, bitterness runs through doesn't have the usual non alcoholic taint, actually the more I drink it's very good. Score 7.3

Clear pale yellow pour with a small, but stable white head. Aromas of wart, malt and citrus. Tase is malt, citrus, herbs - could be bolder, even for a low/AF.

Can. Rhubarb, slightly murky. Ginger, rose. Actually a bit salty, but a bit too thick. Could be crisper, cleaner, lighter. Not bad. Had worse.

Can courtesy of Kostas, Kykao brewery, cheers Kostas. Had this Saturday 14th February at the Manglham 2nd Winter Tasting listening to The Orb - Buddhist Hipsters. Pours hazy light amber with a slim fast disappearing filmy white head. A touch plasticy, a little herbal, and a bit of glue, I am not particularly knowledgeable on Gose so bow down to the expertise of others, that said I know what I like and don't like and whilst I wouldn't be as hard as saying I don't like it, I am not a big fan

Can. Hazy rose to amber. Spicy aroma, ginger and flowers, medium light, lightly sticky, fruity sticky notes, not as refreshing as it could be.

Can at the MH 2026 tasting, thx F&L! RosΓ©ish golden body, not much head. Bit rubbery aroma, vague ginger and maybe light floral notes. Almost a bit almondy yet tart and bit floral taste, missing the ginger largely, just vaguely along the edges, low herbal and alcoholic notes, lightly funky. More wine-like than beer-like in the end, and it's not the best of wines.

440ml can, MH 2026 tasting, thx F&L! Lightly hazy paaaaale shiny yellow body... Misconception no. 1 - Czech Pilsners frequently have a certain percentage of a darker malt (color, body, taste etc.), they generally aren't 100% floor malted pilsner malt. The aroma is definitely Czech or Czechoid hops, herbal and lemony mostly, bit minerally. Extremely dried out taste, there's some bug in here sadly. Herbal and citric hops, actually some rougher herbal bitterness there, which I prefer to the no-bitterness idiocy. Hmm... this has promise, I'd be crushing these in Greece no problem!
