bottle from Tesco Seaton. Deep black, tall and creamy, persistant beige-brown head. Smooth and malty, pleasantly sweet, not too dry. Chocolatey with coffee, dark delight.

Bottle from Tesco. Dark brown in colour, with a thin, beige, head. Sweet milk chocolate, some toasty malts, a touch of fudge, leading to a gentle finish. I’ve had better milk stouts.

Keg halfpint at Fealty’s Bar, Bangor. ABV 5.5%. Despite ordering only a halfpint, I was offered a free sample first: "It’s not for everybody". Deep golden colour, white head. Moderate aroma, some citrus. Dry flavour with plenty of Citra hops, good bitterness.

Bottle from Tesco Inverurie. It pours black with a medium, foamy beige head. The aroma is earthy roast, coffee grounds, chocolate powder and berry. The taste is bitter - sweet, milk chocolate, coffee grounds, toasted nut, dried fruits and a touch of jam with a smooth finish. Medium body and fine, foamy carbonation. Not a huge amount of depth, but it tastes quite nice and the balance is well judged. Not bad.

Aroma of roasted malts, dab of burnt toast, some coffee roast
Taste of roasted malts, some coffee roast, some sweetness from the milk sugars, quite roasty
Palate - Soft carb, medium body, smooth texture, fairly bitter roast. Finish of roasted malts, dab of earthy burnt toast

50cl bottle from Tesco, Bracknell. A glossy black pour with a tight beige head; rich aroma of chocolate and toasted grains; milky texture in the mouth with lots of grains, a light touch of bitterness; and then a sweeter finish with caramel and a sudden rush of chocolate. A really good, old-fashioned, milk stout. Nice to see this brand extension from Guinness - it certainly shows they know their stout.

500ml bottle from Tesco - Jet black body, thick creamy lasting beige head. Nose is sweet milky coffee, butter and roasted barley. Taste has a wee bit of diacetyl covering the burnt and roasty notes. Overall a fine stout.

500ml bottle from Tesco. Pours dark with good pale tan head. Aroma presents some chocolate, dark malts, lactose. Taste continues, smooth and light with just enough lactose and chocolate. Yeah it’s not a bad middle of the road milk stout.

Bottle at home picked up from Watford Tesco. An opaque jet black coloured pour with a lasting light tan head. Aroma is sweet woody roast, lactose sugars, nutty roast, blackberry, light dried fruits. Palate is semi sweet milky sugars, medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Flavour is composed of woody nutty roast, dried fruits, plum, burnt milk, mellow roast. Not bad.
