Description

Bottle split in Craigs room, Borefts Day 2 after party tasting, 27/09/14 thanks to the person who brought this number. Lightly hazed golden orange with a moderate off white covering. Nose is paper, cereals, pale malt, straw, light vanilla essence. Taste comprises light citric notes, straw, grain, pale malt, light spice. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. So so - doesn’t do anything for me.

Tasted from draught at the Beyerd in 2005. Thin, unstable head and golden blonde colour with amber hue, very clear. Aroma of apple, hazelnuts, caramel, but weak and unimpressive. Taste seeks a balance between yeasty fruitiness, malt sweetness and herbal hoppiness, but everything stays a bit shy and doesn’t blend in too well, leaving a rather neutral, yet thirst-quenching beer.

Slightly pale warm golden colour, white head. Aroma of yeast, cloves, malts, light wheat notes. Sweet malty flavour, bread. Bit thin. Finish yeast, malts, lingering sweet.

Clear pale blond appearance. A touch of green apple in the aroma. Flavour has some Granny Smith apple peel. Quite bitter with a refreshing tart bite.

Red-brown colour. There’s a subtle woodiness in the aroma although this doesn’t come through so strongly in the flavour. Tastes similar to a typical Belgian Abbey Dubbel but lighter and easier to drink.

Hazy blond colour with quick receding head. It’s fresh tasting, lightly floral and has a mild honey sweetness. Good session beer.

Sampled @ De Beyerd. Hazy yellow-orange color, medium sized white to off-white head. Smell and taste wheat, banana, maybe slightly herbs or spices. Average to medium body and carbonation. Hmm ok.

Draught @ De Beyerd. Clear yellow - golden color, medium sized white to off-white head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma is malts, some fruity tones and (thanks to a hint of the staff) a hint of cinnamon. Taste malts, quite fruity, more fruity than expected, lightly hints of hops coming through. Finish is a mix of sweet, bitter and a touch of ’wrang’ (Dutch). Soft carbonation, medium body. Interesting and quite pleasant tripel.

Draught @ De Beyerd. Clear light golden color, small to medium quickly diminishing white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma is malts, maybe slightly some hops but it’s hardly present. Might be a bit cold though. Taste malts, straw, moderately bitter, old faded (bitter) hops, a bit dusty. Not in the best condition imo. Very dry finish, a bit thin texture, average to medium body, average yet suitable carbonation.
