Description
Attic Brew Co. was borne out of years of beer consumption and small scale production. Oli and Sam met at university in Cardiff where their beer obsession began. Sam began brewing in his bedroom of their shared house and continued after graduating, moving back to Birmingham and setting up his home brewery in his attic.
In 2018, after they'd had the ridiculous idea to start a brewery, Oli left his job in London and moved to Birmingham. They took out a loan, rented a run down old industrial unit in Stirchley and bought a small brew kit that was older than they were. Several months of painting, building and, finally, brewing, allowed them to open the taproom doors on the 23rd November 2018.
Attic was greeted with an unbelievable show of support from local drinkers, who bought into their varied beer board and new take on the traditional local (editors note; we continue to be indebted to you all

Can from Good Intent, Brum. Hazy-opaque gold. Foamy white head soon disappears. Aroma has light rhubarb sourness with some sugary strands. Flavourwise it has a light-medium sourness (rhubarb to be fair) but lacks custard sweetness. There's more of a dulled sweet edge. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft-flat carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. An unexciting sour (haven't looked at the date on the can tho').

440ml can from the brewery taproom. Poured a clear almost black in colour with a round frothy off white head. The aroma is is big caramel, vanilla. The flavour is moderate sweet, light liquorice bitter, with a rich, smooth, caramel, vanilla, light herbal, dry, spicy, liquorice bitter palate. Over medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.

Cardiff Mini-break Beer#51. Last beer on a few hours stopover in Birmingham on the way home. Mildly sticky-sweet hazy golden coloured ale, full of tropical aroma and taste, within a full-body.

Cardiff Mini-break Beer#50. Good-looking soft stout, so it lacks a little body, however it's very easy, and the light coffee notes are appealing. Found in their bar in Birmingham on the way home.

Cardiff Mini-break Beer#49. Still in Birmingham on the way home. Hazy golden coloured. It is flavoursome with its extra heavy apricot, in both aroma and taste, but this beer would get overbearing after a while. Happy I just ordered a third here.

Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours a hazy pale straw with minimal off-white head, good lacing and medium carbonation. The aroma is a right mix of fruits – berries, tropical and hedgerow. In the mouth it is quite bitter but with a little underlying sweetness. Flavour is mainly floral hops and grapefruit plus hints of stone fruit and generic citrus. Finish is dry and slightly sticky. Not really my kind of beer at all.

440ml can from the brewery taproom and shared in Kuala Lumpur. Poured a murky golden colour with little life. The aroma is peachy. The flavour is moderate sour, with a smooth, somewhat rich, juicy apricot, dry peachy, light sweet vanilla palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
