Hori blind tasting at Hopa. Pours deeper, blackish brown with a tan head. Nose is packed with chocolate, coffee, funk and earthy notes, lovely. Taste is moderately tart, funky, showing lots of coffee, cocoa, earthy notes, leather, berries, stone fruits and vineous notes. Closes with a long lasting, fruity, funky, coffeeish finish, has a medium, somewhat dry body and soft to average carbonation. I'm admittedly partial to coffee sours but boi this is delicious.

This beer is a cloudy purple-maroon color with a medium thin purplish-white head that burns away steadily to a dense film. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of tart fruit, chili pepper, chocolate and cinnamon. Medium body with flavors of tart berry, ancho chili, chocolate malt and cinnamon. The finish is tart fruit up front with a chili and chocolate aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Pours a clear dark copper-amber color with a medium frothy off-white head that diminishes gradually to a dense film. Sticky strings of lacing. Aroma of oak, fruit, spice and yeast. Medium body with an oaky gin character and flavors of almond, yeast and citrus. The finish is tart and oaky with a gin and spiced almond aftertaste. Good beer all around.

This brew is a slightly hazy bright golden color with a medium thin white head that evaporates steadily to a film. Short strings of lace. Aroma of strawberry, yeast and oak. Medium body with flavors of strawberry, floral yeast, piney gin and malt. The finish is oaky and fruity with a sweet-tart strawberry aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

500ml bottle. Almost opaque, darkest brown colour with weak ruby shimmer and average, firm, frothy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, dark beige head. Vinous fruity, slightly woody, minimally spicy and dark malty aroma, notes of blue grapes, black cherry, some oak, vanilla, sherry and zesty citrusy overtones. Taste is tart-ish, vinous fruity, mildly spicy, slightly dark malty with some residual sweetness, minimally woody, notes of vanilla, hints of blue grapes, black cherry, oaky and zesty citrusy overtones; treacle undertones in the finish. Creamy texture, smooth and soft, simultaneously minimally astringent palate, medium, dense, mildly prickly, foamy carbonation. Decent composition, mild tartness, good balance - enjoyable.
