Not a bad porter, heavy on the dark chocolate and roast, with a chewy underside laced with berry, brown sugar, and coffee. Finishes with a moderate java bitterness and a sugary fade. Drinkable, but gets a bit heavy-handed with the sweetness as it warms.

Aromas are wet and dry grains with a little hops. Flavors are bittersweet with sweet upfront and some bitterness coming on. I can pick out all the flavors listed on the label but none of them work well together. No balance, just a mishmash. Okay body and a medicinal finish along with some alcohol. One and done.

Holds up nicely! Coffee still tastes fresh and plenty of vanilla notes!

12 ounce bottle, 9/11/19. Rating # 15,900! Black, thin creamy brown head, decent retention. Aroma of roast, smoke, leather, chocolate, oak, hints of whiskey and coffee. Dry. Taste is chocolate, oak, booze, roast, mild smoke. Medium-full bodied, slick, booze well integrated, low carb, could use more smokiness. Nice beer.
