Description
A little background... In Richmond Virginia’s unbelievable beer scene, one of the pioneering brewpubs is a place called the Answer. Brandon Tolbert, as many of the craftiest craft beer folks know, was the head brewer and creative force behind this brewpub. He left the Answer a short while ago, when they started taking a different approach to making beer, and set out to do his own thing.
Well, flash forward to today and Brandon’s new creative project is imminently happening.
Admin Note: Beers are contract brewed at Twelve Percent Beer Project in North Haven, CT

Can from Livonia Liquor. Pours a deep brown to black with a finger of brown head that slowly rises up, then dissipates. Very coffee focused nose with molasses, vanilla and treacle aromas. More of the same on the palate with loads of coffee, booze and black sugar notes. Boozy, warming finish with coffee and caramelized sugar notes.

Can sourced from Kihoskh and drunk at home (14/04/2022) - hazy orange with a white head. Loads of juicy stonefruit with mango and peach, nectarine, some nelson white grape and gooseberry, citrus peel zest, pine needles, soft sweet malty backbone, robust balanced bitter hoppy finish. Very nice.

Reddish black body, no head. Aroma sweet, mostly cocoa with maple and coffee, in addition to some boozy warmth. Body is thick, dense, and heavy, again mostly cocoa, with maple and coffee prominent secondary notes. A sticky, sweet dessert. But, yelling at the sky, I ask where the beer is?

Sampled in DC, pours an oily dark brown, khaki head. Big legs. Big maple and malt and cola and brownie on the nose. Flavor follows with maple and cola and booze. Coffee seems lost. Sweet and boozy finish. 8 4 7 3 14
