Description
A little background... In Richmond Virginia’s unbelievable beer scene, one of the pioneering brewpubs is a place called the Answer. Brandon Tolbert, as many of the craftiest craft beer folks know, was the head brewer and creative force behind this brewpub. He left the Answer a short while ago, when they started taking a different approach to making beer, and set out to do his own thing.
Well, flash forward to today and Brandon’s new creative project is imminently happening.

Can from Livonia Liquor. Pours a pitch black with a finger of tan head that lingers. Great lacing down the glass. Coffee, marshmallow and peanut butter dominate the nose. Fluffernutter w/ coffee on the palate with nice cacao nib bitterness that lingers on the finish. Lingering caramel, chocolate and coffee notes. Good body.

Can from Livonia Liquor. Pours a hazy, glowing straw gold with a finger of white head that lingers. Lots of bright citrus, mango and peach aromas. Pillowy texture, with more mango and stone fruit on the palate. Low perceived bitterness but drying finish.

Can (12/20/21) pour. It's an opaque light brown-orange-yellow with nice sparkle, finger-width foamy off-white head with decent retention and tons of soapy lacing. Aroma is strong stone fruit and white grape; background malt. Taste is strong grape over citrus and grapefruit, late cracker backbone and mild bitterness. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with thin, smooth texture, average carbonation, alcohol is hidden well and finish as taste. Overall, not getting all of the elements in the description but strong aroma and flavor nonetheless. A tad thin.

Can (11/22/21) pour. It's an opaque orange juice with trace sparkle, finger-plus width rocky foam off-white head with excellent retention and nice soapy lacing. Aroma is strong lemon, pineapple, orange creamsicle. Taste mirrors aroma with less pineapple. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with thick texture, average-to-lively carbonation and frothy finish as taste. Overall, strong across the board with decent complexity and good balance. A smidge over carbonated.

16 oz can. Dated: 09-28-2021. Aroma is huge chocolate with mild coffee. Flavor shows coconut upfront with huge cacao nibs giving massive amounts of chocolate. Thankfully there is some bitter coffee for some balance. Certainly is a nice dessert out but probably should be split at least two ways.

Can. A- Apricot, fruity. A- Orange color, cloudy liquid, no head. T- Apricot juice, mango. P- Light body, thick texture, average carbonation, creamy finish. O- This was total smoothie. Not really sour or sweet but loads of fresh apricot and mango pulp. Flavor does seem to favor the apricot. Really good.

Super hazy, pure golden and straw coloured body with a nice raw honey glow and a thick, four to five centimetre tall off-white and relatively soapy head that lasts for a long time and leaves a pretty nasty lace on the sides. Aroma of pure cream and lactose with a bunch of vanilla and straw notes with some big wheatie elements and a lot of floral notes as well with some caster sugar and noticeable resinous hops here with some grapefruit as well. Medium to Full-bodied; Super rich malty notes with a big sweet bite from the lactose with a lot of alpha acids and bitterness, but cut almost immediately by the fruits and citrus flavours with a floral finish that is nice and robust with the lactose still coming out strong. Aftertaste shows the hops and wheat both almost equally with a nice kick of hops and robust floral dryness with some cream, vanilla and lactose adding the pungency here. Overall, a nice and robust hazy and pungent New England IPA that borders on Imperial status due to the richness of the malts and the lactose here, but it still goes down pretty easily, with a lot of sweetness. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 18-December-2021 for US$, sampled in my hotel room and on the streets of New York on 20-December-2021.
