Filosofie

Lci. No umami tomatoes for me... Again bit too carbonated. Some offtastes in the aftertaste.

Bottle from Carrefour. Hazy brown, thin, foamy, tan head. Aroma of toffee, old milk chocolate, liquorice, coriander, sugared peanut, green tea, vague tobacco. Taste has sweet prune, red apple & fig, soft chocolatey body with a toffee accent; herbal liquorice & slight soapy coriander in the middle. Herbal hoppy finish, spicy, lingering dried fruit, apple peel & toffee. Medium body, slick texture, average carbonation. Sympathetic little Dubbel.

A 33 cl bottle of Fort Lapin 10 came along by way of a new-to-me Belgian retailer who surprised with astounding service. I make the pour into my newish Delirium tulip glass and see an amber-brown body topped with a significant head of sepia foam that slowly declines. I lift the glass for a smell, cherries, grain and hard candy. Now I take a drink, dark raisins, black cherries, multi-grain bread, malt, wood and yeast. Nicely substantial. Rather good, a pleasant quad I knew nothing of previously.

Bottle from Bierboom. Pours hazy black with a huge, frothy, beige head. Aroma of chocolate nibs & powder, earth, macadamia, walnut, toast, coffee roast, black pepper. Taste has sweetish prune & dried fig, faintly sour, wrapped in a malty profile of black chocolate, nuts & brown bready, developing an earthy-toasty bitter profile in the herbal hoppy finish, chocolate powder, sweet tobacco & 'earthy' (chicory) coffee lingering. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Rather dark & 'earthy' Stout, don't expect anything pastry-like. Rather new if I'm not mistaken, perhaps chasing the success of Damme Noir by Damse Brouwser a bit. Just lacks that extra touch on the palate.
