Description
The Sarajevska Brewery opened in 1864 as the first local industry and shortly became one of the leading producers in Bosnia, with considerable amounts exported to Montenegro, Croatia and Albania. Just before World War I, Sarajevska Pivara was producing 116,000 hectoliters per year, and in 1916 it passed the limit of 150,000 hl.

The brewery survived both World Wars. In 1957, the first automatic line for bottling beer with a capacity of 5,000 bottles per hour was put into operation, and in the following 15 years, all facilities were reconstructed, so the production capacity was increased to 400,000 hectoliters per year.

At the start of the eighties the Sarajevo brewery was in the biggest crisis during its entire history, and in the former Yugoslavia it fell to the 20th place out of a total of 28 breweries in the former Yugoslavia. The decline was successfully stopped by the arrival of Mr. Hilma Selimović as general director. By 1991, the Brewery was modernized, and its production increased by three times, so the Sarajevo Brewery was ranked among the four leading breweries in the former Yugoslavia.

Sarajevo Brewery is the leading B&H brewery. company in the production of beer, carbonated and non-carbonated water, soft drinks and juices. Production takes place at the company's headquarters in the old part of Sarajevo, on an area of about 17,400 m2.

A golden coloured wut a thin white head. In aroma, skunky, and Bosnian armpits. In mouth, a rather grainy concoction, tasting of mashed grains, boiled veggies, aldehydes. Watery. Another horrible NA beer from way east! Bought at Skela in Ottawa.

Bottled(330ml). –Yellow coloured, small white head, typical N.A. nose. Sweet stale water with metallic taste and unpleasant, even awful, mouthfeel. This beer rightfully has written on the label big zero, because that’s exactly what it deserves- one big ZERO!!!

0.33l bottle courtesy of ozujsko (thanks!)Oh, gee, I get to be the first one to rate a Bosnian nonalcoholic beer. Go me. This poured a nice thick and big white head (go chemicals !) that went away fast leaving nothing but some scum on top of the beer itself. Which looks exactly like pee, slightly misty yellow going slightly ochre. Interestingly, it’s darker than I remember the regular Sarajevsko being. The nose is typical n/a soggy cornflakes with some honey (ok) and not much else. Not that bad. The taste ? Water, metal and low quality bitterness that I REALLY hope comes from hops. Blah. Like chewing on a coin. According to their website, this tastes exactly like real beer... interesting... So then, it seems that they’ll be launching the first beer ever made out of steel. Now that’s what I call innovation ! It made me laugh, it looks cute, and it doesn’t taste exactly foul, so I’m gonna be generous and give it a 0.9.... probably caught me on a good day.

[Labeled Heinrich Löwe] A hazy light yellow beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet malty with a weird sourness to it, while the flavor is sweet malty with notes of citrus as well as light notes of metal, leading to a dry end.

Hazy blond color. Very light aroma. The taste is slightly better that the average pale lager (some more body). The end is quite dry and bitter.

Blond color. The aroma is quite malty, more than the average, but the taste is just as boring. Very common.
