Description

Hazy deep amber colour, huge frothy beige head, good retention, patchy lacing. Aroma toasted malt, (over)ripe fruits, some yeast, vanilla, raisins. Flavour medium sweet and bitter, malty, light vanilla, ripe red fruit, porto, woody notes, some alcohol. Sweetbitter finish, alcohol, dark fruits, some praliné chocolate, light licorice. Full-bodied, oily texture, smooth mouthfeel, average carbonation. Complex and rich doppelbock, well-balanced, excellent.

23/III/19 - 33cl bottle @ Strandpaviljoen Panta Rhei, Vetzakkenweekend (Zeeland edition, NL), BB: 19/VII/20 - (2019-403)

Clear red brown beer, small creamy irregular off-white head, little stable, falls down quickly, non adhesive. Aroma: pretty oxidized, bit malty, caramel notes. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: very malty, metallic kind of bitterness, rather unpleasant, bit chemical, soft roast, caramel. Aftertaste: bitter and unpleasant, chemical impression, some solvent, caramel, bit sugary, overripe banana, varnish. And where's my vanilla? This beer is a joke. Slot Oostende can do much better. No beer geek would ever consider this beer close to a porter. More like a Belgian Dubbel if anything.

33cl bottle from Beerwulf webshop. F: big, egg-white, long lasting. C: murky amber, hazy. A: sweet malty, sweet fruity esters, mellow fruity, bit yeasty. T: sweet malty backbone, mellow fruity, caramel, bit toffee even, decent bitterness, medium to full body and higher carbonation, for me almost ok if bit more on the sweet side, partially enjoyed.
