My choice from the Einstock lineup to finally check Iceland off my country list. Has a nice dark box nose under the pull top pours a dark brown color with a very foamy tan head. Smell in the glass is mostly nicely roasted lager type malt. The taste brings out a nice Porter roast, with a light mouth feel, and just a bit of a logger character. The whole package just goes down very nicely. Especially for an imported beer that probably took its time getting here. Although the can does say it was packaged on 4 November 2025, so that's still pretty fresh as beers on the shelf go.

Inexpensive can from Chalet. I'm diggin that viking wearing a christmas cap with a pompom on the end. Pour is really appealing; very dark clear brown with some orange tinged light peaking thru. The head is also fabulous, it pours a creamy tan and goes choco moose craggy, and lasts thru the whole session! Malty nose with very little if any detectable holiday spice. First big swig is better than expected. For a holiday brew with some spruce spices added, the spice aspect of this brew is well muted, and I like that. Yes, quite a refreshing departure from those terribly in yer face domestic holiday/winter spice bombs we get here in the states. In the middle, maybe I'm getting a little smoke in there, but this is well behaved as well. Yes, pleasant surprise for a winter brew. Very good co2 level for this style of brew as well. But wait! Its styled as a belgie strong ale, not a spiced brew. As a Belgian strong, it has a quite a ways to go to get up to the same level of Draai Laag Ragnarok or Sierra Nevada Ovila Golden. In the end I'm left wondering if the 8% is really true, considering how well this brew's malty romance hides the alky content. Not bad overall, well balanced.

Reviewed from notes.
Can to becher glass.
Appearance: black in the pour and in the glass with a finger and a half of khaki foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: dark chocolate, cocoa powder, caramel, black coffee and some earthiness
Flavor: meshes the prior noted aromas to a fine sweet to roasty to slightly bitter quality; finishes semi-dry with a good cocoa powdery tone to it
Texture: medium bodied; sessionable; good smoothness - nothing distracting, good carb level
Overall: nicely done porter I would have again.

Lightly sweet, Grainy, Coriander, Floral Notes, Light Hop Bitter. Lightly Sweet, Slightly Fruity, Coriander, Light Bitter Aftertaste. Crisp. Not as Sweet as American Counterparts, Maybe Thinner, Too. Refreshing on a Hot Day. Good. Enjoyed It. Recommended...

crystal clear light pale with a decent white head that fades rapidly. slight metallic nose. odd bitter hops that near the impression of ammonia, but not quite. yes, quite hoppy with something that near a sharp pilsner that went wrong someplace. decent carbonation, but could use more to get my attention away from the flavor profile. bitter astringent bite builds to the middle. hints of 88 gasoline ethanol fuel. not pleasant after the session is established. yea, not quite a hoppy lager but I think its trying to be one. finish like the phenolic of an astringency from a rookie brewer.
