Bottle. Wow! roma is odd, innovative and hits me in the face as I’m pouring. I’m grinding gears to describe it well, but I would say it is vinous and has notes of anise, chalk, alcohol, white raisins and bourbon. Body is a cloudy brown hue that is pretty fizzy at first and it is one of those odd beers that release a lot of carbonation as you sip. This is a bit distracting and detracts from my enjoyment. Flavor is fairly sweet and those vinous and bourbon notes have me wondering if it is barrel aged... (if you made me guess, I would have said so.) Brown sugar and a touch of dark fruit in the palate. Hmmm... I hoped for better.

Black with a big and lasting, frothy, off-white head. Chocolate, biscuit in the aroma, not very complex. Grainy, roast flavour, thin initially, with a nice roast finish.

12oz bottle-pours an off white head and hazy gold color. Aroma is somewhat bitter citrus hops, secondary/faint medium malt-biscuity. Taste is somewhat bitter citrus hops, secondary/faint medium malt-biscuity, nicely balanced. A bit over carbonated, which is rare for me. Thanks Wasatch.

Draught at Hop Leaf, Chicago
Red-amber color. Some caramel and malt aroma. Medium body, with a good caramel and malt flavor, and a good hopping. Solid.

Hazy amber color; creamy head. Nice hop aroma, with scent of sweet oranges. Good mouthfeel, medium caramel, strong hop, very aromatic, with toffee tones. Extremely powerful and long final, a bit fruity too and resiny.
Tasted side to side with Bell’s Two Hearted IPA, the latter wins.

Draught. poured off amber with thin white head. Citrusy and spicy aroma. Mucl lacing. Flavours of vanilla, cherry and malt. Lasting vanilla flavour, much like very good vanilla ice cream. Some chocolate in the mouth.

12oz bottle-pours a big, thick retaining light tan head and hazy amber color. Aroma is medium malt-husky sweetness, some pine hops. Taste is lots of metallic, medium malt-husky sweetness, some pine hops. Wish these breweries would date stamp bottles, as I don’t know if this taste is due to out of date or…it just misses style by maybe over boiling the hops.

On draft @ The Yard House in San Diego that pours out deep copper with white head and nice lacing. It has the standard citrus, mild sweet malt and grapefruit hop aroma. The taste starts with a nice bolt of grapefruit and mild sweet malts with some caramelization. Then midway an annoying metal hop note defaced the whole experience. I guess they don’t keep the tap lines clean enough at this place.

Pours with a big dark head and a dark, pretty much black, if not totally black, body. There is a definate sweetness in the smell along with chocolate and roasted wonders. Sweet syrupy taste to it with a roasted coffee touch along with a hint of chocolate. Grains noticable as well. Rather good and easy and enjoyable to drink.
