Description
The Obergärige Hausbrauerei Uerige (top-fermented craft brewery) is not a museum, but an exceedingly modern food business where a craft rich in centuries of tradition is carried out. It goes without saying that the Reinheitsgebot, or Purity Law dating from 1516, is still adhered to, because its results are good and lasting, relying, as it does, on nature as one of its main factors. Which is exactly what we do, too: our yummy droplet is made of nothing but water, barley, wheat malt, and our Uerige yeast.

BOTTLE 50CL from Erzengel. Thanks, Gabriel.

Look: clear dark mahogany, light beige creamy head with good retention.
Aroma: malty - light caramel and fruity (but not too estery), minty hops, light zest.
Taste: quite dry, caramel and fruitiness are well balanced by peppery bitterness with light phenolic notes. Some citrus too.

Bottle shared at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks Erzengel for this bottle! Three weeks old bottle. Murky light brown. Vegetal aroma with some malt, a bit of fruitiness and decent noble hops in the background. Slightly sweetish flavor with some malt, a caramelly hint, light fruitiness, yeast and pleasant noble hops with mild bitterness. Medium-bodied. Slightly too yeasty but quite nice.

Pours a clear light brown color with slight coppery undertone. The head is generous foamy and white. The aroma is very mild - some malts along with fruits. Perhaps there’s little caramel too. The taste is also mild and slightly sweet, finishing with nice little bitterness. A decent one again.

Bottle. Pours hazy rich amber with airy but stable off-white head. Dusty aroma of yeast and hops, with touches of malt. Dusty, bitter flavour of hops, with estery notes and subtle malty touches. Bitter aftertaste. A decent, well-balanced Altbier!

(Bottle, 0.33 l - bottled on 06/13 - BB 06/14, from Systembolaget, 20140315) The beer poured deep dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, molasses and dark fruits. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, sweetness, alcohol, treacle, grass and bitterness. Aftertaste had malts, sweetness, alcohol and bitterness. A surprisingly boozy for a doppelboc; more like an American Barley Wine.
