Smak och doft av humle, malt, mycket karamell, farinsocker, sirap, russin med toner av mörk frukt och choklad. Rund, len, krämig på gränsen till för söt men med stor fruktighet och en god, pepprig beska.

Good looking bottledesign. A dark amber in the glass, fruity in the nose. Starts surprisingly herb, shortly followed by nuts notes and marzipan. Very hopy for an Alt. Later sweets hints and caramell. At the end well belanced bitter sour. Didn´t know that an Alt could be so complex. 16.03.2013 .

First sampled in Philly, I had hoped to drink this in its native environment at the Uerige keller in Düsseldorf. Maybe on my next trip. Just as glorious as expected, dark and caramelly, slightly sweet with a hint at the alcohol.. This one is a treat all the way around. "old beer" my ass, this is just as relevant today. Try one if you have the chance, this is what altbier is all about.

Bottled. Very deep amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is some fruits, big time sweet maltiness, and mild alcohol. Flavour is sweet malt, somw fruits, raisins and just kick ass with a mild herbal and grassy hops.

Pours dark brown with a small head. Aroma of sweet malty notes, caramel, hops, nuts, hints of earthy notes. Taste is sweet, malty, caramely and hoppy with hints of grain and syrup. Finish is malty, bitter and dry with some sweetness, syrup and grainy notes. Quite well balanced, although a bit too sweet for my taste.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Clear dark copper with a large slightly tan head. A lot of malt both in the aroma and taste. Also dried fruit, caramel and something that reminded of licorice. Thick mouthfeel. Sweet but not too sweet. Some alcohol in the finish. A nice one.

Pours clear, dark brown with a mid sized head. Sweet, malty aroma with notes of brown sugar, toffee, marzipan, meringue and marsh mallows. Rich, sweet and sticky mouth feel. Sweet flavour of brown sugar, syrup and toffee. Alcohol bitter finish. Despite all sweetness this was really good!

Flaska från SB. Mahognyfärgad, klar, cm-högt skum som långsamt lägger sig som ett lock. Stor maltsöt doft. Karamell, välmognen frukt, jordgubbar, äpplen i sirap, persika. Stor söt smak med sött vetebröd, söt mogen frukt, karamell, brända mandlar. Liten försiktig efterbeska. Bra balans trots sötman, djup fyllig smak. Liknar verkligen JW Lees Harvest och det är en bra likhet.

Draught @ BBF13. Pours clear amber with airy but stable off-white head. Clear aroma of yeast with notes of hops and dust. Dusty, bitter taste of hops. Bitter finish. Watery mouthfeel. Refreshing and not for kids but OK.

Draught at Uerige, but I don’t know if it is from a barrel or keg. Flowery perfume aroma. Thin palate, sweet wheat and some banana, but a thin palate and a nearly clear yellow color makes me wonder what they were aiming for.
