Description
The Obergärige Hausbrauerei Uerige (top-fermented craft brewery) is not a museum, but an exceedingly modern food business where a craft rich in centuries of tradition is carried out. It goes without saying that the Reinheitsgebot, or Purity Law dating from 1516, is still adhered to, because its results are good and lasting, relying, as it does, on nature as one of its main factors. Which is exactly what we do, too: our yummy droplet is made of nothing but water, barley, wheat malt, and our Uerige yeast.

My second alt in Dusseldorf, May 2013. Dry grain aroma. Brown with the same thick, lacing head as Schlussel. Lightly roasted and again light nuts and some leaves. Good palate. From the barrel, I assume. There is something about the grain that makes this a little biting on the palate, and not in a bad way. Excellent place to drink beer by the way, standing at the outdoor table in the shade, with music in the street and the smell of brewing in the neighborhood.

Pours hazy, dark brown. Somewhat like muddy water. Not much nose to it. Some citrus, caramel, chocolate and nuts. Rich and tasty with long bitter finish. Wheaty taste with some caramel. Finally a decent alt at Systembolaget again!

Bottle courtesy of Deanso. Poured a clear chesnut brown with a bubbly white head. The aroma is rich malty fruit. The flavour is very complex. It’s medium to weak bitter with some resin, raisins and malt with a watery slightly liqourice palate.

Bottle at rabbit club. My buddy mike is from Germany and used to live near this brewery so I figured continue my European drinking night with 5th different country. Pours muddy orange with sweet nose. Tastes lightly sweet, raisins, earth, malt, spices, vanilla, and leaves. I was quite drunk by this point and my notes were tough to decipher luckily I left after this one.
